Surrounded by the captivating grandeur of the Swiss Alps, towering above the Andermatt Valley, The Chedi Andermatt combines alpine serenity with the timeless elegance of a luxury ski holiday. As the first Swiss property belonging to the GHM collection, classic and contemporary come together at The Chedi Andermatt in every detail; from superlative service to world-class dining. Warm wooden details and natural stone create intimate, yet visually striking interiors from the sleek lobby to the lavish accommodations. Drawing inspiration in part from the Asia-based GHM brand, the sprawling complex features 102 well-appointed guestrooms and suites with unique alpine touches. Bold textures and colors create sultry atmospheres where dark wood floors contrast with supple leather chairs and plush, over-sized bedding. Heated stone floors lead the way to pristine bathrooms where you may linger aprés-ski in the deep soaking tubs, or bask under the waterfall from the sumptuous rain shower. The crisp mountain air envelops you on the outside terrace as the breathtaking panoramic views offer a glimpse of the luxury that awaits both in and out of The Chedi Andermatt.

We really enjoyed our time at the Chedi Andermatt. I didn't want to leave. It was restful and peaceful in a beautiful location with great access to the mountain passes for cycling. We booked the deluxe room with the bicycle package. 3 hours of biking per day and a Chedi Alpine massage are included. The room was so spacious, almost like an apartment - separate living room and dining area from the bedroom and a bath tub or rainfall shower option. It was a corner room overlooking the mountains with a wraparound porch. We felt so welcomed by a real plant in the room, a hand written card, bottle of wine and fresh stone fruit. We loved the little details in the room, like a wine bar, stocked mini fridge (non-alcoholic drinks are included), heated towel rack, and a even the cute design on the toilet paper (they're little dogs!) The road bikes are rented though a cycle shop in town, which the house car can take you to. They were Scott carbon bikes with 2x drivetrain and electronic shifting. The Restaurant: We loved the concept of having a main ingredient then a Swiss interpretation or an Asian interpretation. Standout dishes: Swiss beef papardelle, black pepper steak, an Asian salad (can't remember the exact name), peach dessert (the different textures worked really well together - crunchy, creamy and refreshing). The food was all excellent- beautiful presentation, thoughtful flavors, except for bok choy that came with a chicken dish - it was super salty and I would not recommend that one. The chefs were very attentive to my lactose intolerance and made modifications to multiple dishes. The modifications did not seem like an afterthought at all. Morning buffet is a generous spread. They even had real honeycomb! The cappuccinos with soy milk were delicious, smooth and had a lovely flavor profile. The staff are very welcoming and even remembered how I take my coffee. Housekeeping is excellent and there is turndown service. I read some of the other reviews noting the attitude toward customer service and for the most part I felt taken care of. However some instances did not sit well with me. First was our first night eating at the Restaurant. The server did not introduce the menu and also spilled a not insignificant portion of soup when she poured it into the bowl. She did apologize and then dabbed it up with a napkin. However I would have hoped she would offer to top up the soup without me asking. After all we are in a fine dining restaurant. When I brought this up, I felt dismissed. If this were my only experience with the restaurant and if the papardelle wasn't as incredible as it was, then I might not have given the Restaurant another chance. The next evening we had an Asian gentleman server who was very professional, attentive and made excellent suggestions on the menu in an unobtrusive way. Cascas Salon - Valentina is an artist. She is very detail-oriented and takes her craft seriously. A cut includes a shampoo with Oribe products, wet cut, blow dry, dry cut and she even styled my hair for a final look. She takes her time with every step. She listened to my questions/concerns, looked at inspiration photos and then gave her professional opinion. I was a little hesitant at first to try a new hair salon because it's difficult to find someone who is experienced in cutting and styling thick coarse Asian hair. This was one of the best haircuts I have ever had. I think I'll just have to come back to Switzerland every time I need my hair cut now. Opportunities for improvement: - A fizzy nicely scented bath bomb to accompany the lovely bathtub area - We brought up to the front desk that the phone wasn't working multiple times through our stay and someone only came the night before we were checking out. The attitude of the front desk staff was dismissive and not solution-oriented, like "oh yeah when I called, it would connect but I would just be saying hello and no one would answer." In short there ought to be a resolution, such as "I will send a technician to the room to fix the phone." - Fireplace was not working in the room and we only figured that out the last night of our stay so there was not time to get it fixed - At the restaurant, they charge for tap water (not bottled still water - TAP water). At least that is how the server explained or perhaps more accurately did not explain. She said all of our water is tap water. Each bottle is 9 CHF. I think as an American maybe there's a cultural difference but restaurants don't charge for tap water, just still bottled or sparkling water. Also why would you offer just water at the end of a meal? What about dessert, coffee, tea? It's a little laughable. - During check in there seemed to be a lot of body language that seemed every question we asked was an inconvenience. We also booked an additional night and it seemed like a big bother to the front desk staff to combine the reservation. There was sighing and even another colleague offered to help her but she said no. I am hoping she was just having a bad day. Almost all of the other staff interactions have been professional, friendly and helpful. - I did bring up some of these points real time but honestly I didn't want to dwell on negative things when there were so many wonderful things as well. If Chedi Andermatt took these points into consideration for improvement it would really be a perfect stay. What we loved - Decor, peaceful and tasteful interior design - Outdoor Finnish sauna - Interesting drinks in the fridge like a kombucha and matcha latte - Location to the mountain passes for cycling - Valentina at Cascas salon!! A true artist who is passionate about her craft - Our massages - medium pressure but definitely felt like a sports massage and these lovely women knew their anatomy Overall we loved our stay and would come again.

We loved our week long stay at the Chedi. Everything was excellent. The suite was spacious and comfortable. Common areas are beautifully designed. The outdoor pool was wonderful. The spa massages were enjoyable. We had one minor issue that we surfaced to Jorg, the General Manager. He attentively listened and then promptly fixed the issue. It’s rare these days that senior management is so customer focused. Cheers to him. We would definitely come back to the Chedi Andermatt. Excellent service.

The Chedi is spectacular and beautiful from every angle. We loved the service, the breakfast, and the design. The spa is also a particular highlight. As a Leaders Club Aurelian I look forward to my next stay!

We were welcome by an austere front desk young gentleman who totally lacked warmth and should NOT be working at the reception ! He has absolutely no personal skills and as a first impression it was a big turn OFF ! Americans be aware that this properly for its price range, does NOT offer air conditioning which is appalling !!! Nor does it acknowledge your affiliation to Hyatt and Globalist status guests ! which is unacceptable !!! Otherwise the hotel is superb, huge and will satisfy the millionaires ! Its location lacks appeal as a ski resort poor in its offering of warmth, attractions, coziness and character … traits you would think to find in a Swiss ski resort that advertises itself toward multi millionaires ! A bit overrated and overpriced overall to my taste !
