Reviews for La Mision Hotel Boutique

Wow! OMG!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 7 months ago

What else can I say. This hotel in now our go-to spot in Asunción. From the very first moment we arrived, we were amazed by the first class service, the cleanliness, the ambiance - literally everything. The hotel is small, cozy, extremely comfortable and well-decorated. The staff couldn't be more friendly or helpful. And the breakfast - well it can't be beat. Great variety of food including fresh fruits, bread, eggs, French toast, pancakes, omelets and even eggs Benedict! And you can also order a cappuccino or espresso - all included in the price of your room. We are taking a side trip to Machu Picchu but will be returning to Asunción afterward. When we booked our trip, we considered booking a different hotel on our return, but in the end decided to stay again a La Misión. After our wonderful experience here, we are so glad we made that decision. Absolutely wonderful hotel.

Great Service with a Smile!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 8 months ago

We had a nice stay! The room, the food (breakfast, lunch & dinner), and the common areas were quite nice but not exceptional. What sets this hotel apart from other hotels we stayed at is the warm, personal, friendly service from every staff member we encountered. Every request was met with a smile. We took a cab from the airport - approximately $ 17.00 USD and an Uber Comfort (an upgraded Uber) from the hotel - approximately $9.00. They recently renovated the swimming pool upstairs and it's quite nice - although we didn't get to enjoy it as the weather was uncommonly cold (high 60s) during our stay, ha. Located in a nice area with shopping, restaurants, coffee shops, supermarkets, etc. within walking distance. Uber is abundant and very cheap - i.e., $3.00 to $4.00 for a typical ride. Asuncion is definitely one of the safer cities in South America that we traveled to.

La Mision sets a high-standard for Asuncion hotels

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 10 months ago

La Mision is a beautiful boutique hotel in a mostly-brick building located off the main Mariscal Avenue and four blocks from San Martin & Argentina Avenues. It’s rated no. 1 among the Asuncion hotels and deserves the ranking. The guest room, which is quite large by international standards, is all ceramic tile flooring. Personally, I’d prefer carpeting or real wooden floors but that’s probably a matter of personal taste. The tile floor carries over into the T&B, which is very large and has a bidet, although given the space, they could have included a second wash basin. The T&B tile floor can be slippery when not very dry and my wife slipped and twisted her knee on her first night. Instead of a shower gel, they provide a Dove bath soap bar, which my wife appreciated. There were enough towels but we missed having a close-up makeup mirror. The entire floor, including the guest rooms are painted in all white, which is quite refreshing. The minimalist décor was nature themed, with wrought iron amenities holder in the T&B, bedside lamps with seashell motif in the shades, and bird and butterfly frames. For work, you had a wrought iron work table with a classy marble top, and a white-painted wrought iron chandelier. The window was floor to ceiling, with a door that opened to a wrought iron railing - not really a balcony but it still gave the illusion. Each room also had a cute portable electronic fireplace with fake logs – nice. We appreciated the ice bucket, pitcher, filtered coffee maker, wine glasses and corkscrew. There was a big TV over the work desk but we couldn’t get TV stations and services like Netflix required subscription. So you could only watch free YouTube – ha ha ha. There were three rooms in each corner, so 12 rooms for a floor. At the center was a large seating-rest area – still all in white - with a sofa set, coffee table and mirrors, which then led to the floor’s balcony, which gave a good view of the mall and its trees directly in front. My wife and I had wine in both areas. Across the hotel is a smallish mall with open air coffee shops and restos for those brave enough to dine during the southern winter – Mistral, name after the main street Mistral Lopez which the hotel led to. Breakfast is a nice affair in a beautiful and classy high-ceiling dining area with floor to ceiling glass windows and lace curtains. To get there, you passed through their large pub-lounge area with bar and large leather seats. We didn’t know it on our first day but found out on the second that we could order special eggs or special coffee from the kitchen. Food was good – hot meats, scrambled eggs, breads (there was a toaster), hams, cheeses, lots of pastries, juices, some fruits. We were told there was a harpist that played the harp at breakfast but in both times, we didn’t experience it. Oh well. The hotel stretches the concept of ‘boutique’ – sure there are only some 60 rooms but all the facilities are first-class and services are complete. We wished the staff weren’t so stuffy and rule-bound (for example, we asked for a very late checkout but they could only offer half room rate for only an extra four hours), but Antonella at the front desk was a refreshing exception. Quite pricey but we wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again.

Far Exceeded Expectations

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed April 12, 2023

I selected La Mision Hotel Boutique for nine consecutive nights in March 2023 for my tourism-related visit to Paraguay. The very high ranking of the hotel on TripAdvisor was the main reason for me selecting this lodging. Making a reservation was a simple and straightforward process. Using the hotel's official website, I selected my preferred room type (Executive Room with Breakfast Included) and dates of stay. After entering the details of my credit card to secure my reservation, I was immediately e-mailed a reservation voucher, which I eventually printed and brought with me when I departed for Asuncion. When I arrived at Silvio Pettirossi International Airport, the hotel’s shuttle driver was waiting near the arrival terminal’s exit door and holding a sign with my name on it. The ride (prearranged by the hotel and with a fixed fare of $45 USD) from the airport to the hotel took about 15 minutes in very light near-midnight traffic. And when I arrived at the hotel, the check-in process with the receptionist, during which I received my room key card, was fast and efficient. The bedroom of my room (#407) featured a king-size bed with four large pillows and sheets and comforter of excellent quality. Two nightstands with lamps, a chair with ottoman, a writing desk with chair, a padded bench seat, a flat-screen television with satellite, an armoire with iron and ironing board and security safe, a coffee maker with supplies, and assorted glassware were also present. In-room amenities included air conditioning, strong wi-fi, complimentary bottled water (two per day), coffee, and tea, and a minibar with wine, soda, water, candy, cookies, chips, and trail mix available for purchase. The view from my room towards the southwest was of the Recoleta neighborhood. The bathroom featured a walk-in shower stall with a combination rainhead shower head and handheld shower wand, ample hot water, strong water pressure, and large and clean towels and washcloths. Amenities in the bathroom included a bidet, a small selection of toiletries, a hair dryer, and a makeup mirror. Combination European (two pin), American (two prong), and United Kingdom (multiple prong) power outlets were located in the bathroom and bedroom. In the mornings, breakfast was buffet-style downstairs in Paraqvaria Restaurant and consisted of scrambled eggs, bacon, made-to-order omelets, sliced meats and cheeses, breads and spreads, pastries, bite-size sandwiches, sliced fruit, cereals, yogurt, mixed nuts, juice, and coffee. The breakfast was filling and the service attentive each morning during my stay. As the title of this review indicates, my stay at La Mision Hotel Boutique far exceeded my expectations. First, the hotel offers a wide range of tours to various tourism-related sites in Paraguay and Brazil, and will even customize tours based on your needs and desires. I was able to visit several artisan towns, Jesuit Reductions, and Iguazu Falls through transportation and a tour guide arranged by the hotel. Next, since many of these tours began before the official start of breakfast each morning at the hotel, an a la carte breakfast was cheerfully prepared at my request on the mornings that I needed them. Finally, a well-stocked Superseis supermarket, currency exchange, and many restaurants are all easy and short walks from the hotel. (HINT: be sure to eat at the fabulous Churrasqueria O Gaucho at least once during your time in Asuncion). For nine consecutive nights and five tours with transportation and guide, I paid a total of $4547.50 USD. Upon completion of my stay, the transfer from the hotel to the airport took about 20 minutes in non-existent pre-dawn traffic and cost a fixed fare of $45 USD. For a future trip to Paraguay, I would have no problem selecting La Mision Hotel Boutique again for my lodging, and would absolutely recommend this hotel to anyone considering staying in Asuncion for any length of time.
