Four Seasons Astir Palace Hotel Athens

My wife and I enjoyed two separate one-night stays at the Four Seasons Astir Palace in late April – early May, 2026. I recommend the hotel. We were on our way to Crete, but needed to have a night in Athens at the start and end of our trip to make flights work. I chose the FS Astir Palace because I didn’t want to deal with downtown Athens congestion and I wanted a place where I knew things would work and we would be taken care of. They did, and we were. The FS Astir Palace is a modern, expansive hotel. There are two hotel buildings, and many cottage clusters located seafront around the property. I reserved the cheapest room – it was a one night stay, and that seemed sensible. We looked away from the sea (although we could still see water), over the pine trees that cover the land around the hotel. On the outgoing visit, we got upgraded to a sea view room. I liked both views. Other the than views, the rooms were identical. Our room was very nicely sized, with a sitting area, a table with 2 chairs, and an extremely comfortable bed. On the incoming visit, a very warm comforter on the bed kept me from sleeping well. I said something at check out, and on the outgoing visit the comforter had been replaced with a light blanket. Nice touch. The HVAC worked silently and effectively. We had a large balcony with two chairs and a day bed. The bath included a separate tub and shower, a toilet, and one sink (boy, two would have been nice). All told the room was great. I only wish the lighting was just a tad brighter. That said, it was satisfactory. All of the service touches were perfect. The staff is very well trained, and is responsive to needs. The food at breakfast was excellent. On the way out for our outgoing stay, we were leaving before the start of breakfast. The front desk clerk offered us free “breakfast boxes” to take with us. Again, very nice touch. If you want a place that makes you feel you are in Greece (and only in Greece), then maybe the FS Astir Palace isn’t for you. It’s kind of “international luxury with high service”. But, that’s what I wanted, and that’s what the hotel delivered. I’d gladly come back.

Many hotels are beautiful, and this surely ranks as one of the most beautiful Four Seasons we’ve had the privilege to enjoy, but it is the team that truly makes a property. You can stay at the most beautiful hotel in the world, but if the team isn’t strong, your stay will fall flat. That is certainly not the case at this property. There are some standouts that really made our stay enjoyable. Starting with breakfast every morning, Bruna and Virginia were always so pleasant. They knew our likes and dislikes and made us feel like we were home. Their personalities were exceptional and they started our day off so well. When we went to the sea chaise area, Achilles and his team, especially Marios, were truly outstanding. They enlightened us about the area, made recommendations and were so helpful. Without asking or prompting, they treated us like royalty and represented the Four Seasons brand so well. The manager at the hotel’s Italian restaurant, Mercator, is also to be commended for his handling of an inappropriate guest who brought a drone to dinner. The Four Seasons is always known for its tight security, and the manager, whose name I didn’t get, handled the awkward situation with certainty, grace and decorum. The rooms are beautiful. The team outstanding.The views amazing. Thank you for such a wonderfully enjoyable stay!

This is an amazing hotel. The location is gorgeous, with plenty of wonderful spots around the pools, boardwalk, and beaches to relax. Every team member was extremely friendly and provided exemplary service. Bruno and Virginia at the Arion breakfast, and Achilles at the Arion boardwalk were excellent ambassadors for the FS brand. We tried Taverna and Mercato restaurants which were in beautiful settings, and served outstanding and imaginative food. The spa was beautiful, and the services were excellent. The room was luxurious, immaculate, and so comfortable. Whenever an issue arose, which was rare, it was promptly and professionally addressed. This is our eighth FS property we have visited, and so far our favorite. We highly recommend.

I have visited the Italian Mercato restaurant at the Four Seasons hotel in Vouliagmeni for the second time. The welcome staff were friendly and attentive, which I truly appreciated. The area is quite spacious; however, but it is the place where they serve the hotel’s breakfast! Because of this, the restaurant lost some of its Italian charm that I was expecting. I noticed this time that the menu was quite different from my previous visit. When I asked about this, I got answered: “How long has it been since the last time you came here?”, which I found somehow abrupt. It would have been nicer to simply explain that the menu changes regularly! Meanwhile, the dishes were delicious.

Upon check in we were kindly escorted to our room by lovely lady called Maria. To our surprise at around 20:00 pm the sofa bed and housekeeping was still inside working. The room is modern but not for 2 adults and a child as the sofa bed is so uncomfortable our son could not sleep on it. During all stay we would stay worst thing was always the housekeeping, towels with orange stains on them - brought as new ones, overall cleaning at a level of motel. When met with Gabrielle hsk supervisor things changed and he tried himself to fix all in the room and make sure the room will be done by FS standards of cleaning. Gabrielle unfortunately cant be present and do the job of a regular housekeeping as most likely the common sense or a proper training prior to getting hired is lacking. Thank you Gabrielle for your kindness and trying to solve the issues. Breakfast area is nice with good service and nice food options. Best restaurant in hotel is Beef Bar as a standard almost as good as the one in Monaco. Taverna is also cute but the italian restaurant is not italian at all - most likely american/greek version of naming it italian but not using italian cooking standards. Pizza margherita without mozzarella di buffala but rather with yellow mixture us type of dominos cheese. Service is great on the other hand as well as drinks options. When ordered pancakes from IRD they came raw on the inside… the mixture ready to use for them as a fast food place is very lowering the image of food quality. Overall this resort has a great potential, also nice position but it needs an urgent makeover and better hsk employees too.
