From the very first moment we reached out to the Four Seasons Hotel Astir Palace, we knew we were in extraordinary hands – and that feeling never wavered for a single moment across our seven unforgettable nights. Let me start at the beginning, because the story of how this hotel won our hearts actually begins before we even set foot on the property. My wife, our young adult daughter, and I landed in Athens only to discover that a nationwide taxi strike was underway – something we had no idea was taking place. Standing in the arrivals hall exhausted and with too much luggage, we honestly did not know what we were going to do. On a hopeful whim, I called the hotel to let them know we might be delayed. Without a moment's hesitation, the team at the Four Seasons arranged complimentary transportation from the airport directly to the hotel. No charge, no fuss, no paperwork – just genuine, immediate care for their guests. That single gesture set the tone for everything that followed. When we arrived, the surprises kept coming. Despite being well ahead of the standard check-in time, the hotel welcomed us right in and informed us that our room in the Nafsika building had been upgraded – complimentary – from a standard single room to a gorgeous one-bedroom suite with a breathtaking ocean view. We were speechless. The suite was beautifully appointed, spacious enough for our family of three to spread out comfortably, and that view of the sparkling Aegean was the kind of thing you see in magazines and assume must be digitally enhanced. It was not. It was even more stunning in person. As if all of that were not enough, the hotel had learned that we were celebrating my birthday during our stay. When we walked into the suite, there it was: a beautifully presented birthday cake alongside a bottle of Taittinger champagne resting on ice. It was such a thoughtful, personal touch, and it made me feel like I was not just a guest at a hotel but a welcomed member of an extended family. Now, let me talk about the dining, because the culinary experience at the Astir Palace deserves its own standing ovation. Over the course of our stay, in addition to breakfast, we dined at three of the hotel's on-site restaurants — Mercato, Taverna 47 (twice), and Pelagos — and each one was outstanding. Mercato delivered vibrant Italian-inspired dishes with impeccable freshness and flavor; every plate felt like it had been composed with real passion. Taverna 47 was a love letter to Greek cuisine, with beautifully executed traditional dishes that were elevated without ever losing their soul. And Pelagos was the crown jewel — an exquisite seafood experience with flavors so clean and bright that you could taste the Mediterranean in every bite. We genuinely looked forward to every single meal, which is something I rarely say about hotel dining. Equally impressive was the fact that each restaurant knew that my daughter had a nut allergy and modified her dishes accordingly so that she could enjoy the unique cuisine alongside me and my wife. The Spa was another highlight of our stay. Each of us indulged in treatments, and my wife came out of her massage practically floating. She turned to me and said, with complete sincerity, that it was one of the best massages she has ever had – and she is someone who has visited lots of hotel spas. The facilities were immaculate, the atmosphere was serene, and the therapists were clearly masters of their craft. It was the kind of experience that leaves you feeling genuinely renewed. Of course ,over the course of seven nights, there were a couple of small moments where the service did not quite hit the mark – but here is the remarkable thing: every single time, the staff addressed the issue immediately, graciously, and to our complete satisfaction. There were no excuses, no delays, and no brush-offs. Just swift, sincere resolution. In my view, that kind of service recovery actually says more about a hotel's character than never making a mistake at all. And that brings me to the staff, who are truly the heart and soul of this property. From the front desk team to the restaurant servers to the housekeeping staff to the concierge – every single person we encountered was warm, attentive, and genuinely invested in making our stay extraordinary. They remembered our names, our preferences (and, as mentioned above) my daughter’s nut allergy). They went above and beyond not because they had to, but because they clearly wanted to. You can tell when service is scripted, and you can tell when it comes from the heart. At the Four Seasons Astir Palace, it comes from the heart. Finally, a word on the location, which is truly ideal. The hotel sits on its own stunning peninsula, far enough removed from the hustle and bustle of central Athens to feel like a serene, peaceful retreat — a true escape where you can hear the ocean and feel the breeze without a care in the world. And yet, the city's magnificent historic sites and attractions are close enough to visit with ease whenever the mood strikes. It is the perfect balance: you get the tranquility of a resort and the accessibility of a city hotel, all in one. We left the Four Seasons Astir Palace feeling rested, reconnected as a family, and deeply grateful for an experience that exceeded every expectation we had. This is not just a five-star hotel – it is a five-star experience in the truest sense of the word. We cannot recommend it highly enough. If you are considering a trip to Athens and want a stay that is truly special, look no further. We are already dreaming of the day we get to return. Thank you, Four Seasons Astir Palace, for giving our family a week of memories we will treasure forever.

This is coming from someone who lives in Dubai and is used to genuinely high service standards. Based on that, I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. From the moment we arrived, the experience was disappointing. The hotel lobby had low ceilings, felt motel-like, and smelled of sewage. I was genuinely shocked and thought we had arrived at the wrong hotel, especially considering we paid significantly more than what comparable luxury hotels cost in Dubai. The room itself was extremely small, with barely any space for luggage storage. We were told this was one of the larger rooms, which made me wonder how guests manage in the smaller ones. Do people only arrive with their small handbags? The service was another major letdown. Staff were noticeably rude and dismissive until a €50 tip was given, after which their attitude suddenly changed. I personally find this behavior disguisting and distasteful. Our experience at Beefbar was equally unpleasant. The Armenian waiter spoke to us in a condescending manner, as if we were children. When we asked for sufficient food, he convinced us to order less. When the portions turned out to be insufficient, instead of apologizing, he brought out a scale to prove the steak was supposedly 600g, while it clearly showed it was actually 580g, which I didn't care but him being petty. Then we were asked to leave because our two-hour seating time had expired. The level of pettiness and rudeness we experienced at Four Seasons Athens left such a bad impression that it genuinely made me question returning to Europe at all. Ironically, we know people who visit this hotel every year, and even they mentioned that this year the staff were “less rude than usual.” At the end of the day, this hotel feels like nothing more than a name, something to brag about rather than a place that delivers true luxury or value. Unfortunately, it does not live up to its reputation in any meaningful way.

It’s been three days since we came back from our 4 days trip to Four seasons Astir Palace Athens. I would like to share my experience and impressions of the hotel and its service not to give negative feedback but to focus on the lack of responsibility of the hotel staff regarding the situation I had! First of all we had paid for two connecting rooms with sea view but the ones we had when we arrived were on the lowest floor, very distant from the main partn, with view of trees infront of us. We asked for new accommodation. afterwards we were accommodated on different floors very far from each other! We hadn’t been compensated for that but it’s not the reason I wrote that review. The real disappointment came on 1st of January, when i had treatment in the spa and forgot my jewelry in the pocket of the gown ai was wearing! I simply attached photos of my conversation with the staff of the hotel to emphasize the reaction and attitude they had and how they neglected my situation! The most offensive for me was the irresponsible behavior and stress they caused me!
