Great Start before our cruise.

This was a beautiful, deluxe hotel. Our room was spacious and was very comfortable. Even though we had street side room, the room was sound proofed for sleep. The service and amenities were top notch. The location is excellent for shopping and dining and entertainment. We very much enjoyed our short stay at the hotel.

Best Hotel in Athens

I have stayed at many hotels over the years but this hotel may be my absolute favorite. It was a combination of the beautiful room, the welcoming and kind staff, the excellent service and food, and just the perfect location. Also with the most comfortable bed and excellent lines which elevate the stay and make me very well rested even in moments of jet lag! I was upgraded to a suite which had the cutest balcony and view of the city square in front of the hotel. If I was in the room, I kept the French door is open and listened to the music and activity in the square. The room was not a routine cookie cutter room. It was old world classical with so many details. But the bed was lovely, comfortable and I could not ask for anything better. I had fruit refilled everyday in my room, which was a lovely touch. Room service was amazing. Their green salad is excellent, just FYI. I might have had it daily because I liked it so much! The staff are wonderful. Kind and welcoming and will do anything to help their guests. They kindly checked me out the night before I left since I had such an early departure. But it was the daily greetings, the kindness on the phone, the immediate help for any issue that just made my stay. Now I am spoiled. If I come to Athens I know I have to stay here because I didn’t think any hotel will measure up. I know there is no outdoor pool at this hotel. And the gym is stuck in the basement and not the most welcoming. But I really think the hotel and its team make up for this. I worked out in my room or outside and I didn’t have time for swimming anyway. Thank you for the ost lovely stay. My husband was to join me and ended up being unable to come and he is the Marriott Ambassador member . But I had the best stay, even without him! Usually he is the one who gets us the excellent treatment. But this time, it was me!

A Palace!

This superb hotel has a history worth discovering. We only stayed one night, but we could have spent more time without a problem. It is located in front of Syntagma Square, which is very central. With its Tudor Hall restaurant, you will feel like royalty - with impeccable service and dishes prepared with great care. You couldn't ask for anything better, with the view of the Acropolis

Best Hotel in Athens!!!!!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

WOW! This place is amazing. I highly recommend this hotel. They want your visit to be special and make sure it is! We had a junior suite. They service the room 3 to 4 times a day. They turn down the bed and leave chocolates as well as your slippers! Breakfast was one of the best and let’s not forget the view of Acropolis! Rooms are very nice and have all the usual items. It is worth the money to just be in the center of Athens. It’s an easy walk to all the historic sites. There are plenty of restaurants in the area as well as the Parliament Building and a park across the street. The metro stop is just across the street or around the corner if you don’t mind the steps! Splurge and stay here! I want to go back!!!!!

My New Favorite Bonvoy Hotel

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

We’ve been pretty loyal Bonvoy members for nearly 20 years, but certain bad incidents at hotels such as the St. Regis Osaka and Bernini Bristol caused us to shy away from Bonvoy hotels. We decided to give the King George Hotel a try and we’re so glad that we did. We made our reservation through American Express and had a wonderful king room overlooking Sytagma Square with views of Parliament where we could lean out our window to see the changing of the guard. We were on a lower floor so didn’t have a view of the Acropolis, but still thought it was wonderful. The room itself was very large with a wonderful bed with luxurious crisp, white sheets. All of the outlets and charging stations were in working order and there was a nice, traditional desk in the middle of the room with a credenza opposite the desk. At the other end was a very chic sofa with a coffee table. There was plenty of closet space with an in room coffee maker, separate electric kettle and small fridge. The bathroom was also very luxurious – old marble that had new fixtures, with Byredo amenities. The décor was traditional, luxurious and tastefully opulent. The décor and style of the hotel actually reminded me a lot of the Bristol Hotel in Paris – relaxed elegance. The hotel also has only 100 rooms and feels very intimate. I want to make a special note of the wonderful housekeeping service at the hotel. Our rooms were serviced at least twice a day, without fail. Sometimes we would run down for a quick breakfast and be back in an hour to an absolutely spotless room. The staff was very friendly and would offer to return at a later time if it was inconvenient. It’s obvious they take a lot of pride in their work and it really did show. The rooms are so well maintained, its remarkable. The hotel has a nice gym, a wonderful bar and restaurant (Tudor Hall). We stayed during the shoulder season, so the glass windows still encased the patio of Tudor Hall, but it offers breathtaking views of the Acropolis. The hotel lacks a pool, but we were offered use at the Hotel Grande Bretagne (which is right next door). The Grande Bretagne is a much bigger sister hotel to the King George. We did use the pool a few times and while the Grande Bretagne is lovely, it’s a much bigger hotel. We dined at the Michelin starred Tudor Hall a few times and found the food and service exquisite. I found the food expertly prepared, the service efficient but friendly, and over all our experiences were a great value. The food was some of the best we ate during our two weeks in Greece. The location, for our purposes, was ideal. It’s right in the middle of Syntagma Square. It’s a touristy area, but it’s very walkable to a lot of major attractions – Acropolis, Plaka neighborhood, Monastiraki Square, the Ancient Agora, etc. We found it an ideal base for touring what Athens has to offer. We never had a problem finding a taxi (although we used booking Apps primarily). I think where the hotel differentiates itself is the service. The front desk and concierges were all really helpful. They called places to see if they were open, made reservations, provided recommendations on activities and tours, etc. We also needed a hospital while we were there, and they called several places to confirm that they would be open and able to accommodate us. All in all, we loved our stay at the King George Hotel. It’s very luxurious and intimate. The service is top-notch, and the rooms are some of the most comfortable we have stayed in anywhere in the world. Everything just runs perfectly at this hotel. We had such a wonderful time, we’re already planning our next trip.
