Overlooking Waitematā Harbour, Park Hyatt Auckland is a sophisticated, waterfront residence that enriches guests with authentic and intimate experiences. Paying tribute to the local culture, the hotel is inspired by the Maori wharenui (house). Just as the wharenui is fundamental to Maori life and the beating heart of New Zealand's indigenous culture, the hotel is a place of gathering that brings families, communities and tribes together in Auckland, a welcoming haven to locals and visitors alike. Stylish and spacious guest rooms incorporate Maori accents, such as custom designed tukutuku panels and rugs, made from New Zealand wool. The hotel's dynamic culinary and event spaces are purposefully designed for guests to socialize, dine and relax across different occasions. After a busy day of exploring, guests can relax and unwind at the spa and 25m infinity pool with sweeping views of Auckland Harbour.

Lovely rooms, exceptional restaurants and perfect location. We stayed for 5 nights and appreciated all the thoughtful design elements in rooms … spacious areas, separate closets w luggage counters, well-stocked Nespresso coffee bar, and more.

6 people had a High T experience here today. Having been lucky enough to indulge in High T’s at different hotels across the globe, this has to be the best we have ever attended. The ambiance, the presentation of the 3 tier morsels, the tastiness of the same. The introduction of the menu by the restaurant staff, all amount to the experience. Absolutely superb. Bravo Auckland Hyatt.

Designed by a Kiwi - Bossley Architects, Pete has excelled with archetypal features from the James Stirling entry ie the inwards intruding glass entrance to the 7 storey atrium packed with fairface precast concrete panels to perforated metal & backlit feature panels. The hotel entrance is understated and set towards the back of the undercover podium. Note though that cars needs to skillfully manoeuvre around a structural column to get out but you get to admire the supercars parked. We're greeted by the MD's dog who has his own sleeping area in the lobby & for $35 donation to the Guide Dogs Assoc, you get a stuff dog toy. Checking in is quick and efficiently done by the very friendly staff. Its seems to be protocol that all staff greet all guests with a smile, even in the corridors. The hallway bears the architects flair with room doors set into alcoves instead of the standard long hallways with all doors visible. Stepping into the room, you notice the timber floors throughout and the non standard hotel room layout. The walls are lined with fabulous timber and fabric with barely any gibbed walls. The bathroom is huge with double basins, standalone bath that set against a large glazed window with electric blinds for privacy. There's a separate toilet with its own basin so 3 sinks in total to fill the electric jug! Lots of towel rails which is very welcome plus a large shower with detachable showerhead & a overhead rain shower. In between is a walk-in wardrobe/dressing room to keep suitcases out of sight. Fully stocked bar fridge and snacks seemed to be reasonably price. There's a nespresso machine but no milk frother but there is milk in the fridge. At the end of the room is a small lounge with coffee/dining table. The balcony looks onto the ASB Theatre but privacy is maintained by the facade louvres which can be controlled in the room. Its all modcons with next level electrical switches which allows a multitude of operations from dimming of lights to blinds operation. Cove lighting is a nice feature for going to the toilet without disturbing your partner. Breakfast is a combo of continental buffet and a la carte which features eg. congee & bibimbap which nicely expands the standard bacons & eggs menu - very tasty and filling! Exploring further there's a health spa, gym, separate spapool room with sauna and the outdoor pool heated very warmly however the architects may have erred here by placing the pool under cover which means no sun. In fact some guests had dragged their sunloungers to the deck end to grab some sun. The pool is looking a little sad with the artificial timber decking looking worse for wear and buckling in one spot. Plus some signs of corrosion in the aluminum slats in the soffit above are evident. Will need some serious R & M. To conclude, a luxurious stay with the overall decor a plus but let down a little by the pool which in hindsight may have been better on the roof capturing the sun and perhaps views over the nearby viaduct.
