Outstanding Hotel, Staff, Food and Beverage program.
Amazing new(er) hotel. Wonderful service, beautiful and quiet rooms. AND some of the best food and beverage I've had in Austin are on-site. The food and service at The Peacock was phenomenal as were the beverages and service at Goldie's. At Goldies, the team takes time to get to know each customer and creates an experience that feels custom/personalized. Also on Sundays - check out Oldies at Goldies and pair vinyl, friendly conversation, and cocktails. Definitely get the bar snacks - they're worth the calories!

Overpriced
The Proper Hotel in Austin, TX is an upscale property with a lot going for it — but at its price point, it falls short of expectations. My room overlooked a power substation, which isn't exactly the view you'd hope for when paying a premium. The gym is fantastic, the rooms are modern and well-appointed (and small), and the bed is genuinely comfortable. A Trader Joe’s is close buy if you want to avoid highway robbery minibar prices. In-room coffee is handled by Nespresso, which will delight some guests, though drinking foam is not to my taste. Would I return? Only on someone else's dime. There are better values to be found in Austin. Here are all the charges for one night: Room Charge $659.00 City of Austin Occupancy Tax $72.49 Texas State Occupancy Tax $39.54 State Cost Recovery Fee $4.09 City TPID Tourism Assessment $15.42 Destination Amenity Fee $45.00 City of Austin Occupancy Tax $4.95 Texas State Occupancy Tax $2.70 City TPID Tourism Assessment $0.90 The second night was $50 more on the room charge.
