Reviews for The Driskill

The best hotel staff in 50 years of being at hotels around the world!

This place will be having you feel like you are royalty! The staff is unbelievable. the food is outstanding! The location couldn't be better to see the Bats , 6th street , and the Capitol. You will not be disappointed! Take the tour with Amber of the hotel - she's great!

A beautiful hotel with class, comfort and an interesting history.

The Driskill is a beautiful, well-maintained historic hotel in the heart of downtown Austin. Whether the bell hops and porters, front desk, housekeeping or dining, service was impeccable. Arrived for a business conference and extended stay for a long weekend with my spouse. The rooms are well appointed to include comfortable beds and pillows! Love the location - central to a plethora of good restaurants/BBQ, bars, music, comedy and the river.

BEST Historic Experience

The Driskill is not just a hotel, it's a talking point. We had a great time discussing art, culture, history, etc with all the guests we had in our group throughout our stay. Impeccibly clean venue and cozy bedrooms. Loved all the restored details in each nook of the property!

Beautiful hotel, disappointing room

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 6 days ago

Comfortable bed but historic room is small and poorly decorated, especially compared for how much you pay. Hot water was having issues when we checked in, but someone came and fixed. If you want to pay to be on 6th street in Austin, this is it. We won’t come again. Not worth the money for the room. Feels like we paid for the hotel location and how beautiful the public part of the hotel, not the room itself. The room was a let down.

Wait until the Driskill has its act together

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

I arrived this afternoon for two nights for business. After just a few hours, this place is in such rough shape that I told the desk I am leaving a night early. Do yourself a favor and stay away until it lands. The walls here are **paper** thin. For the past two hours, I have heard nothing but the constant drone of carpet cleaners in my ear, as I tried to work in my room. It’s been impossible to concentrate. I just called, and we apparently have another hour or more to go. On Sunday night of Easter Weekend. When I want to be in bed very early for meetings. There’s no water for hours tomorrow, which you don’t learn about until on check-in. There’s a deal with a local Gold’s if you want a gym. Everything else is under construction. My hotels make efforts to alert guests to the chaos of renovations. I love classic hotels - the Palace in San Francisco is one of the best. I have no idea what is happening here with the Driskill, but would recommend you stay away until it lands.
