Built in 1886 as the showplace of a cattle baron, The Driskill remains a landmark of legendary Texas hospitality. Located in downtown Austin, The Driskill is convenient to all that the city has to offer, including the convention center, opera, symphony, fine dining and shopping. Known as the "live music capital of the world," Austin is home to more than 100 music venues, many within walking distance.

Pleasant stay and nice Cafe for breakfast. A little overpriced as the hotel has seen better times. There is a weird vibe with large inhabited lounges and multiple lifts!

The rumors are true, the Driskill is haunted. It is haunted by inept and uncaring staff that has little or no interest in making your stay enjoyable. our experience started at check in. we had prepaid for a double queen room thru Amex travel for my son and I who were in town for his birthday. Upon arrival we were informed that our room was not only not ready, but they were “sold out” of double queens. Imagine my confusion as at had not reserved this room, I PREPAID for it. We were offered a King room with a fold out and a $75 credit at the bar which I begrudgingly accepted. So off to the bar we went. As we attempted to close out at the bar we were informed that we could not use the credit offered because our room had not been entered into the system. Credit was useless, I paid the tab and went to dinner. Came back 2 hours later, room still not ready. It is now 4 hours past check in time. I ask for a manager and at this point getting upset. Manager appears and threatens to throw me out. At this point I give up, go to the room that I don’t want and call Amex to deal with the issue. I have stayed at the Driskill well over a dozen times thru out the years and I am really disappointed that this experience has ruined all of the good memories. Sadly it will be my last stay. I’ve had better treatment at a Super 8. Hyatt has really ruined a true Texas landmark with this sloppy management and poor customer service.

First time to stay here. Have always wanted to just hadn’t until now for our birthdays and to see George Strait in concert (same birthday as mine!) All staff was nice and friendly especially valets and bellmen. Front desk was friendly but just so wished he would not have said welcome guys to me and my husband. Pet peeve of mine , don’t refer to me as a guy - I’m not a guy!! We were offered a bottle of Shiner beer or a bottle of water, we took the water and were given $60.00 credit as everyone seemed to be getting that afternoon. I think it was a sales pitch to use at the restaurant not because of housekeeping as our room was just fine, spacious and clean and soft sheets. Western decor throughout was very nice. And the letter D everywhere including the carpet! I noticed it probably due to my name beginning with a D. Had a bit of a wait for breakfast, then the gal said she was seating us outside. Oh no you aren’t!! We live in south TX and don’t like humidity served with food. So a bit longer wait. I ordered the cortado to drink. Five dollars. It was so bitter I couldn’t drink it but my husband tried. I ordered eggs Benedict, didn’t like it. It was shaved salty ham on a butter saturated muffin and the sauce was not your usual sauce. Disappointed. Ordered side of home fries, omg, disgusting and I did send them back! Burnt cubes smothered in green chile pieces. I asked if they would re do them, server said they come that way. Husband had regular breakfast plate, nothing to write home about. Didn’t have a good waitress, never checked on us after sending potatoes back. Sixty dollars for breakfast, disgusting, room was over four hundred, won’t mention the concert tickets price, let’s just say a very expensive overnight trip!

Nice hotel with parking nearby. Bathroom was clean, but needed more shelf space. It has room for only a couple of items around the sink. You are not sharing any sink area top space with anyone else. It was a nice room otherwise.

A historical hotel and great location. The front desk staffs were very welcoming and friendly. I stayed at the renovated tower room, which still have the historical decor but with modern amenities.
