About the Hotel
Hotel Magdalena is a hotel project from Austin’s acclaimed Bunkhouse in collaboration with renowned architecture firm Lake | Flato, located on Music Lane in the popular South Congress neighborhood of Austin. At 89 rooms, it is Bunkhouse’s largest hotel to date, and features four new, but distinct, buildings connected by exposed elevated walkways and courtyards, creating a treehouse feel inside the grounds. The property sits at varying elevations, an homage to the slopes of Barton Springs, and the lush grounds are planted with native Texas species including Bigtooth Maples, Redbuds, Meyer Lemon Trees, Yaupon Holly, and Little Gem Magnolia.

Misses the mark
I booked a quick staycation to celebrate my anniversary. We experienced several small issues that added up to a less than ideal stay. We booked through Chase's The Edit program but were neither provided a welcome amenity nor appropriately credited for onsite spend (food and parking). We flagged both issues to the front desk but didn't receive help with the first or acknowledgement/response for the second. We were also placed in a room facing the alley despite asking for a quiet room. As others have mentioned, it is very loud in the mornings and we were awakened before 6am (not ideal as we were taking an opportunity to sleep in while away from the kids!). I also found the AC struggled to keep up and the room was quite hot for most of the night, despite it being a fairly mild summer evening. All in all, I wouldn't stay here again nor would I recommend others do so, which is a shame because the grounds are lovely and the concept is fun.

Beautiful! Beautiful! Beautiful! Great hotel, great restaurant, beautiful pool! 10/10. Lobby was great too! And ivy at the front desk is knowledgeable, helpful, friendly and professional. Absolutely love this boutique hotel find. Definitely will be back!

Work and Fun
Love the location, the staff are great, always a comfortable room. A great spot for a quick getaway, I was combining work and live music and Magdalena doesn’t disappoint. I don’t live too far from Austin but it’s a great spot to not have to drive late at night to the hill country

Perfect Staycation
Absolutely loved our stay at Hotel Magdalena! When we got to the hotel, we were amazed by how beautiful it was right away. We were in downtown but felt like we were deep in nature. The vibe was so peaceful and laid-back, and the rooms were so cozy and stylish. The staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. Special thank you to Chase who greeted us at check in. We got some freebies like a Suzanne tote bag with fresh topo chicos and a welcome note. The pool was temperature controlled. Perfect location—close enough to walk to South Congress but still feels like a quiet retreat. Can’t wait to come back!
