About the Hotel

Surrounded by nothing but turquoise lagoon which melts into sapphire blue, the Maldives luxury resort island of Anantara Kihavah and its pure white sands rise up out of the ocean like a mirage. For centuries, this was where Arab traders sailing to the Far East took shelter; a lush paradise blessed by coconut, papaya and mango trees. Navigating archipelago to archipelago by the stars, the seafarers were also drawn by the riches of the ocean surrounding the island – where a prehistoric volcano sank back into the depths, leaving blooming corals within a house reef and a wealth of lagoon fish. Wishing to keep the pristine nature of the island intact, not one tree has been moved – as evidenced by the villas growing up around them. The design pays homage to the seafarers of old, fusing Indian Ocean, Arab and Portuguese motifs with indigenous materials. Located on the Baa Atoll in a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, Anantara Kihavah Maldives Villas invites you to imagine your own barefoot luxury paradise. Savour the luxury of space in your private pool beach villa or over water villa. Snorkel with mantas and Hawksbill sea turtles. Stargaze into the night. Dine on a deserted sandbank or beneath the ocean’s surface at this enchanting sanctuary

Reviews for Anantara Kihavah Maldives Villas

What an unforgettable experience at Anantara.

The place , the food, the service - everything deserves full 5 stars! I highly recommend this resort not just for couples but also for families with kids. Also our butler Harnie was very polite , helpful and always available. All this made our vacation (even with kids) very relaxing . This place is a true paradise! No words to describe it really . I highly recommend this place ! Esp love the underwater SEA restaurant, beautiful corals and marine life, and the waters are crystal clear, we spotted sharks, rays, a turtle even!

A beautiful island that was almost perfect

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

I really wanted to give 4.5 stars, our 8 days here were better than good, but not quite excellent. Without re-iterating all that has been said before, I will give you our hits and misses. This was our fourth resort in the Maldives and a similar price point to those we have visited before so it was inevitable we would do some comparison. Hits: - Super friendly staff, nothing is too much trouble - Good accessible reef for snorkelling, complemented by excellent facilities available to snorkelers at the dive centre such as lockers, towels and showers which we have never seen elsewhere - Free underwater meal at SEA - a complete unique selling point of this resort if you stay a certain number of nights it can be part of a booking deal. Food and experienced were 5*+ - Amazing cocktails - all were executed beautifully and with care. especially those in Sky bar, although they were excellent at all outlets. Many different types of gin if that's your thing - Lovely beaches: generally soft sand in most areas and you can walk around the whole island in 20 minutes. Not many islands is this possible so we enjoyed it and did the walk most days. - Resort feels isolated despite being in the busy Baa Atoll - We stayed in an overwater villa. It was one of the nicest we have stayed in, especially the outdoor deck area. We spent much time in the swing chair - so relaxing. - Lovely lush interior jungle. Its well established, well maintained and beautifully lit at night making it almost magical - Public areas, restaurants and bars are gorgeously designed and beautifully maintained - Very good AC in the bedroom of our villa - Our host was super responsive and friendly, but not too present and we really appreciated that balance - Nice touches like beach bag and sunglasses wipes - Excellent welcome snacks - We enjoyed some very good meals in Sea, Manzaru and Spice Misses - No free flip flops like all other resorts we have stayed at - One free hat given to two guests. Seemed odd as we normally get two or none at all - No daily treats/snacks delivered to villa in the afternoon. Something we have enjoyed at other hotels at this price point - Way, way too many supplements when on HB especially in Mazaru. They also seemed non-sensical when deducting the costs of the dish. Some dishes were a lower menu price with higher supplements than more expensive dishes. - $50 HB credit was really shocking on HB. This has been the same since at least 2017 looking at reviews. I am sure the menu prices are not the same as they were 7 years ago. It barely covers an appetiser in Fire restaurant. - No AC in the overwater villa bathroom and lots of glass made it extremely warm and not somewhere you want to spend any time getting ready. - The most expensive bottle of water (Aqua Panna) we have come across in the Maldives at $15++ and no house water is offered at meals at a lower price. - Breakfast was the poorest we have had at this price point of resort, both in terms of quality and variation. The al a carte menu was not very inspired and quite boring. It didn't match the quality of the rest of the resort and left us a bit baffled. We really missed things like Mango, Papaya, Dragon fruit and Coconut from the breakfast buffet. Items at breakfast appeared to be cooked from frozen/bought in and presentation of breakfast al a carte dishes was poor. Pastries were only the snack size variety and yoghurts and chia pots were only half filled. It felt a bit like a cost-cutting exercise. In summary, Kihavah is a beautiful island and definitely one to visit for snorkelers. We really enjoyed our overwater villa and the resorts facilities, with only the food in Spice and at breakfast not quite hitting the mark for us. We also felt that the HB was not value for money compared to the competition at this price point. We do hope to return one day. If the VFM aspect and F&B were improved we would be back next year!

An Unparalleled Paradise

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 6 days ago

We've been fortunate enough to stay at numerous high-caliber resorts worldwide, including Hotel Augustus Caesar (Capri), InterContinental (Bora Bora), and multiple Four Seasons properties. However, Anantara Kihavah in the Maldives has truly set a new standard, surpassing them all in every aspect. From the moment we landed in Male, the experience was seamless. We were escorted to a luxurious seaplane lounge, complete with gourmet breakfast options and immaculately clean shower facilities. Upon arrival at the resort, we were greeted by our dedicated host, Zaheen, who personalized our check-in experience, eliminating any need for a traditional front desk. The overwater villa was nothing short of spectacular. With its expansive deck, private plunge pool, and innovative features like the glass-bottom bathtub and magical outdoor shower, it's undoubtedly the most impressive accommodation we've ever experienced. The dining options at Anantara Kihavah are exceptional, with the underwater restaurant being a true highlight. Enjoying a world-class meal while sea turtles swim by in their natural habitat is an unforgettable experience. The wait staff, particularly Abo, Baba, and Priti, were passionate, attentive, and truly elevated our dining experiences. One of the standout aspects of our dining experience was our server, Priti, who attended to us most evenings. Her attentiveness and intuition were truly remarkable. Priti had an uncanny ability to remember our preferences and anticipate our desires, often surprising us with personalized recommendations that perfectly aligned with our tastes. It was evident that she and our host, Zaheen, were in constant communication, sharing insights about our likes and dislikes to further enhance our experience. This seamless coordination between the dining staff and our personal host created a level of customized service that we've never encountered before. Priti's genuine passion for her role and her commitment to ensuring our utmost satisfaction made every meal a delightful adventure, contributing significantly to the overall magic of our stay at Anantara Kihavah. The resort's attention to detail is unparalleled. From providing barely-used tennis shoes(if you forgot them) and new socks at the gym to the swift response to our impromptu requests, the staff consistently went above and beyond. One evening, as we were walking back from dinner, we realized we needed some ice. I sent a quick text to Zaheen asking where we could find an ice machine. We were no more than 200 meters from our villa, but by the time we arrived, there was already ice waiting for us. This level of attentiveness and swiftness in response was truly astounding and perfectly encapsulates the staff's dedication to guest comfort. During our stay, my wife unfortunately experienced some minor sun poisoning. We started walking to the medical hut to get looked at and guess who pulled up in a golf cart even though we didn't message anyone for help, you guessed it, Zaheen! He immediately sprang into action, escorting us to the medical hut where we received prompt care and a topical ointment. Upon returning to our villa, we were touched to find a beautifully arranged fruit plate—not just any fruit, but a thoughtful selection of fresh, exotic varieties—accompanied by a handwritten get-well note. This gesture went far beyond standard hospitality, demonstrating the staff's genuine care and concern for their guests' well-being. It's these personal touches that truly set Anantara Kihavah apart and make guests feel truly valued and cared for. For diving enthusiasts, the house reef offers incredible opportunities, and the dive master, Mateo, ensures an unforgettable underwater adventure. Our dedicated host, Zaheen, deserves special mention. His professionalism, work ethic, and genuine care for guests' experiences are truly exceptional. The WhatsApp communication system made reaching out for any needs effortless and personalized. In conclusion, if you're considering booking a stay at Anantara Kihavah, don't hesitate. This resort offers an unparalleled experience that redefines luxury travel. It's not just a vacation; it's a journey into paradise that will leave you with memories to cherish for a lifetime. We loved all the staff, their training rigor and communication was absolutely insane, idk how they can consistently make magic happen! We especially loved the following staff members - Zaheen - Priti - Baba - Abo - Mateo

Has always been one of the best resorts when it opened and still continues to be at the top! Quite pricey but worth it!

Unforgettable Honeymoon

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

Our honeymoon at Anantara Kihavah was pure magic. The island is breathtaking, but what truly made our stay special was the incredible service. A huge thank you to Piyal, our host, who went above and beyond every day. He made everything feel personal and unforgettable.
