Surrounded by nothing but turquoise lagoon which melts into sapphire blue, the Maldives luxury resort island of Anantara Kihavah and its pure white sands rise up out of the ocean like a mirage. For centuries, this was where Arab traders sailing to the Far East took shelter; a lush paradise blessed by coconut, papaya and mango trees. Navigating archipelago to archipelago by the stars, the seafarers were also drawn by the riches of the ocean surrounding the island – where a prehistoric volcano sank back into the depths, leaving blooming corals within a house reef and a wealth of lagoon fish. Wishing to keep the pristine nature of the island intact, not one tree has been moved – as evidenced by the villas growing up around them. The design pays homage to the seafarers of old, fusing Indian Ocean, Arab and Portuguese motifs with indigenous materials. Located on the Baa Atoll in a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, Anantara Kihavah Maldives Villas invites you to imagine your own barefoot luxury paradise. Savour the luxury of space in your private pool beach villa or over water villa. Snorkel with mantas and Hawksbill sea turtles. Stargaze into the night. Dine on a deserted sandbank or beneath the ocean’s surface at this enchanting sanctuary

We loved this place and had travelled 4 times to other islands such as Waldorf Astoria and Vakaru, this was good value in accommodation as we decided to stay on water for the 1st time.. it was unbelievable as Antantara has one of he best reefs, so we saw Turtles and huge sting rays most days coming past our villa, it was incredible ... Its not the biggest island so 7 days was enough due to the amount of restaurants on the island and two of those had to be paid for even with full board. Sea is amzing although really pricey for the food delivered we paid $1300 for myself, wife and 2 children although $230 was a bottle of wine , but still pricey. Spice restaurant had a brilliant all asian menu, we actually eat there 4 times. Japanese was pretty standard for Japanese restaurant food was decent. The staff was amazing super polite and hard working... great sports facility with a Mai Tai trainer and ring. We did feel the experiences like massage , scuba diving , sea bob excessively expensive. $650 fo 1 hr lesson for my wife and son scuba diving is too much!!

My husband and I had a fabulous week staying at Anantara Kihava resort. We had an over-water villa with pool, which was very luxurious. A wonderfully comfortable bed, plenty of wardrobe space, a huge bathroom with a glass-bottomed bath, indoor and outdoor showers, and a fully-stocked mini bar. It was also kept scrupulously clean by the lovely villa cleaning staff. It even came with bicycles for getting around the island! Our fabulous host for the week, Zidhan, gave us a lovely buggy tour of all the amenities when we arrived, and we soon settled in. The island is truly beautiful with palm trees, lush vegetation, and a fabulous array of orchids. The Orchid Garden is a must to visit, and bowls of the most incredible flowering orchids adorn the restaurants. Our main reason for visiting the Maldives was to snorkel with Manta Rays and, after being disappointed when we came to a different island in 2023, this time we experienced two magical trips to swim with these awesome creatures. The Dive team were fantastic, and made sure our trips were as safe for the Mantas as they were stunning for us snorkellers. I cannot thank them enough. For dining, I doubt this island can be bettered, with its Fire, Sky, Spice and Sea (underwater - not to be missed!!) restaurants, plus the Italian Manzaru and the buffet or al a carte Plates. We cannot fault the quality of the fare on offer. We also partook of the yoga classes and the Spa, where my husband had an expert and thoroughly enjoyable massage. The evening of Maldivian drumming was impressive and extremely enjoyable, and we even joined in the dancing. We sadly didn't get the opportunity to use the telescope in the Observatory or to lie back and see the stars, because the weather was too cloudy, but they would also have been amazing experiences. There were only two fairly minor niggles with our villa. One was that we found the bed headboard a little uncomfortable as it was hard wood, and there was a ridge at the top right where you want to rest your head if sitting up in bed. A padded headboard would be better. The other was due to the design of the villa beneath the bathroom, where some kind of tank was suspended quite close to the sea's surface. In very calm weather it would not be an issue, but it was quite windy when we stayed, and the waves broke against the underside of this tank, making nighttime quite noisy. Having said that, we would definitely recommend this beautiful resort with its lovely, friendly and helpful staff.

The difference that made this a fantastic holiday rather than a good was the attention to the small details of the staff, knowing your names and preferences whilst being extremely friendly just took the stay to the next level.

A wonderful hotel on a wonderful island with a beautiful reef! Special thanks to butler Tina, and the water activities manager Vlad.
