The Petanu River carves out a lush valley that cradles Kamandalu Ubud, a collection of villas that immerses guests in the Balinese way of life. “Kamandulu,” adopted from Sanskrit, means “the vessel that holds the holy water,” a moniker that encourages finding inner peace. Built from native wood and stone with peaked alang-alang grass roofs, the resort is a nurturing home base for authentic encounters with the countryside’s shrines, villages and other cultural attractions.

A truly magical place. My daughter and I had a 5 night stay here. Our package included all meals and a 90 minute massage each. The breakfasts were a standout with so many selections and overall, every dinning experience was special. The staff were very attentive and super kind and friendly. The room was very nice with a view over the gully and the jungle. We saw monkeys in the trees when sitting by the pool which was pretty cool. Morning yoga sessions were a highlight and a different class each day let you sample the different styles. The instructors were very experienced and it was an special and authentic experience in a beautiful yoga shala overlooking the jungle. The pools were beautiful, especially the infinity pool overlooking the gully. We caught Grab scooters into Ubud as the traffic is a bit of a nightmare and a car would take 5 times as long to get anywhere. Such a delight, I was sad to leave and would come back tomorrow if I could. Thank you Kamandalu for a real treat.

Such a great place to stay, had a fantastic package with breakfast dinner and lunches all included. The room is quite nice, comfortable beds and everything is on seperate chalets so you don’t have any direct neighbours! Massages we had by Desi and Ella was excellent!

We purchased a package through Luxury Escapes which included a 60 minute full body massage, this is one of the best massages I have had in Bali. Eka was my massage therapist and did such a wonderful job. My shoulders have never felt so relieved.

We stayed in a 3-bedroom unit, which was the largest one in the resort. It had a private pool and an outdoor jacuzzi, perfect for relaxing. The room was very clean, spacious, and well-maintained. The staff were incredibly kind and helpful throughout our stay. We truly enjoyed every moment here. The resort is surrounded by nature and has beautiful paths, making it perfect for peaceful morning or evening walks. Highly recommended for families or groups looking for comfort and tranquility.

Kamandalu is pure magic. We stayed in what we both agree was the most incredible hotel room we've ever experienced — beautifully designed, serene, and nestled in lush jungle surroundings. Waking up to monkeys playing in the trees outside felt like something out of a dream. The hospitality here is unmatched - warm, thoughtful, and genuinely kind. As committed vegans, we did encounter a few challenges with meal options, but the staff did their best to accommodate. We’d love to see a broader vegan offering in the future to match the rest of the resort’s perfection. Still, we would absolutely stay here again - it’s the kind of place that stays with your soul long after you leave.
