Mandapa, A Ritz-Carlton Reserve

If you have Mandapa on your list of potential places to stay in Ubud, stop your search and just book it. We've stayed at some great places, but this was hands down the best hotel experience we've ever had. The property is simply stunning, nestled in the jungly hills of Ubud with the Ayung River flowing through it. We ate and imbibed at each of the onsite restaurants/bars -- Ambar, Sawah Terrace, Kubu and the Pool Bar -- and every bite and sip was delicious, offering an ideal mix of local, Asian, and Western cuisines. Don't skip the craft cocktails at Ambar, dreamed up by mixologist Adi; their special vermouth made for one of the best Manhattan's I've had in a long time. And every morning I looked forward to breakfast at Sawah Terrace. So good! The service is otherworldly! Our butlers Agung and Stevie really pulled out all the stops and were available to us whenever we needed. No request was too big or small. And it's the small touches, like having coconuts waiting for us in our room after coming back from a day tour, the constant other tasty treats they'd leave, noticing we didn't have dinner plans and making some for us, and even suggesting one morning we had breakfast delivered to the villa for a different experience (and it was such the right call!!!!). They knew what we needed or wanted before we could ever articulate it ourselves -- simply magical hospitality. And most shocking is that seemingly every member of staff knew who we were (as well as the other guests), because they addressed us by name everywhere we went. I'm a Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite member, which is like the lowest status tier, but we were made to feel like royalty simply for being a member. We booked a villa overlooking the resort rice paddies, but were upgraded to a river villa. That villa was *PERFECT* in every way, and the calming sounds of the flowing river certainly lowered by blood pressure for the 4 nights we were there. If we ever land back in Bali, we will absolutely stay here. And you should too.

We stayed at Mandapa with our 2 kids and it was absolutely magical. The villa was stunning, with a private pool and peaceful jungle views. The food was delicious and beautifully presented at every meal. The spa was a true sanctuary – relaxing and serene. But the highlight was our butler, Nessa, who went above and beyond to make us feel cared for. She made our stay truly special, especially for little Alma. Mandapa is not just a resort – it’s an experience we’ll always remember. Thank you for everything!

This resort is exceptional, one of the most beautiful places we’ve ever stayed. The photos simply don’t do it justice. The villas are spacious and designed to blend with the natural surroundings. We felt genuinely welcomed by the entire team. A special thank you to Dewa, our wonderful butler, who made our stay unforgettable, Sawitri for her warm hospitality during breakfast, and Delia from Kubu Restaurant for her excellent service. The resort offers a variety of dining options, and every meal we had was delicious. If we return to Bali, there’s no doubt we’ll be staying here again!

Our stay at Mandapa was nothing short of amazing. After a long drive from the airport through Bali’s heavy traffic, stepping into the serene beauty of Mandapa felt like entering another world. The resort is surrounded by lush greenery, rice fields, and the peaceful Ayung River—an absolute paradise. One of the biggest highlights of our stay was the incredible service. Our personal butler, Meech, took care of every detail with warmth and care. From organizing activities to small thoughtful touches in our villa, he made us feel completely at home. Every staff member we met was just as kind and attentive, always greeting us with a smile. The food was excellent too. We enjoyed delicious meals at the resort’s restaurants— Amber, Kubu, and Sawah Terrace, each dish beautifully prepared and full of flavour. The service was smooth and thoughtful, with staff always ready to accommodate any request. Mandapa is the perfect retreat from the busy world. Huge thanks to Meech and the entire team for making our stay so memorable—we can’t wait to come back.
