Our grand 202-room boutique hotel resides in the historic B&O Railroad Headquarters in downtown Baltimore, near the beautiful Inner Harbor waterfront. Today, we keep business and leisure travelers connected to the exciting offerings of Charm City with our central downtown location near the Baltimore Convention Center, National Aquarium, Oriole Park at Camden Yards, and Johns Hopkins University. Charm City Gem!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

Cecilia and I have been big fans of the Kimpton Hotel Monaco Baltimore since it opened in 2009 and our most recent stay was by far our best overall experience at the hotel. Front desk ace Mita not only welcomed us warmly but remembered us from our prior stay in January. It was a pleasure to see Mita each day or our stay as she was laser focused on ensuring that each of our requests were taken care of ASAP. As we inquired whether one of their recently renovated rooms were available, Director of Housekeeping Robert arranged for us to stay in one of them even though the renovated rooms were not yet being offered to guests yet. The updated room was spectacular - bright and airy with modern furnishings and luxurious bedding. Robert was also extremely responsive to our requests and was so pleasant to interact with. The B&O Brasserie continues to offer top notch food and drink and Hotel Monaco institution Jaymo provided amazing service. Our overall experience made us fall in love with the Monaco all over again and will continue to be our go-to hotel in Baltimore for years to come!

Gorgeous and historic building and great location!

We had a fantastic experience! The hotel is marvelous - a historic building with an interesting history. We enjoyed wine hour and the general manager stopped by - John was so nice and knowledgeable. A stroll to Camden Yards took only 10 minutes and we enjoyed the Mt. Vernon neighborhood too. We also walked through the harbor as the location is central to everywhere we wanted to visit.

B&O

We stayed in the hotel and had a really nice time at B&O. Our bartender Myra was really wonderful. We ordered some chicken wings and had multiple cocktails, Myra really executed it well. The room was really nice but the shower head might need an upgrade.

Warm and wonderful service!

We were travelling with family and arrived on a bitterly cold, snowy Friday. As soon as our Uber pulled up to the front door, we were greeted by a lovely man who quickly gathered up all of our luggage and got us inside and up to the lobby on the second floor. Muhammed warmly greeted us at the front desk and was extremely friendly, courteous and anxious to assist. We requested connecting rooms at the last minute and after settling in, we realized that one of the room's heaters was not working. The front desk person at that point was wonderful woman named Meeta (sp?) who responded immediately and sent a maintenance person. Long story short, we ended moving both rooms to maintain our room connection. The entire staff was so friendly, pleasant, professional and responsive. We enjoyed the wine hour sitting by the fire, ate several meals at the B&O restaurant with fun and entertaining service provided by Jamo in the mornings. We also were served by the evening bartender who handled a huge crowd after the Raven's game with style and finesse. We then had the pleasure of meeting Junior, who like the rest of the staff went above and beyond to provide warm and wonderful service and a fantastic guest experience. The entire staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome!

Expected Better for a Kimpton

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 months ago

Stayed here for one night on a Sat in Jan. It was fine for one evening as a place to crash and we were only there about 14 hours total but as others have mentioned, this property is not even close to Kimpton standards. I've stayed in Kimpton properties all over the US and never had a bad experience but this is the first Kimpton "Monaco" I've stayed in. I've noticed Kimpton properties specifically branded Hotel Monaco tend to always be in "vintage" buildings compared regular Kimptons. Perhaps that's on brand, not sure, but if so, I'll now always stay at a regular Kimpton and not a Hotel Monaco. This building may have an old school charm but everything about the interior is just too well worn. The room itself, was plenty large and had comfortable bedding, but overall has definitely seen better days with peeling wallpaper in some places and stained curtains that look like they're from the 50's. The exhaust fan was so loud it kept us all up and the only reason we didn't switch rooms is we needed a room with two queens and all of their double queen rooms are on the same line on each floor so it would have been the same duct line anyway. There was only one person staffing the front desk every time we went there and the hotel was crowded so it took a while to check in. Complementary Happy Hour is a great Kimpton perk, and while this hotel did offer it, there were too many guests taking advantage of it and only one staffer making sure there were enough wine and glasses (The same person manning the front desk) so they were playing catch up. In the morning the complementary coffee was lukewarm at best. Not sure why Kimpton would have a property in such an old building in a sketchy location. Sorry Baltimore, but your downtown is just sketchy. The Kimptons in NYC are all super sleek and in modern buildings but this is the polar opposite.
