The Peninsula Bangkok

We really enjoyed our stay at The Peninsula and we would stay there again. We appreciated the great service from all employees we met and were actually impressed by the consistency in the service. The hotel did not feel over crowded at breakfast and dinners at the hotel restaurants. Also we appreciated the nice and great pool area just by the river. You always get a sunbed and the guys at the pool provide very good service as well. One of the pools is even a quite pool area. My only room for improvement to management is that if you have big events please advice other customers at check in that they can not eat at the main restaurant where you also serve breakfast. Then you can plan accordingly. Your other options are then the pool area or lobby area for lunch.

With only one night in Bangkok (appropriate, considering the number of times I've been through the Chess soundtrack!), I opted for a stay at the Peninsula based on location, reputation and pricing. It was a wonderful choice and one I would highly recommend to anyone visiting the vibrant, tropical chaos that is Bangkok. Prior to arrival, I arranged hotel transportation with the hotel. I chose the luxury sedan with the addition of VIP Fast Track for immigration and customs. I cannot recommend the Fast Track service enough! The Bangkok airport is huge, intimidating and very unlike the experiences I've had elsewhere. Also available was a helicopter ride from the airport to the hotel's rooftop helipad. I can see that being appealing since the Bangkok traffic makes the roughly 20 mile ride from the airport to the hotel take about an hour and a half each way. The BMW ride was great though, offering refreshing cold towels, cold filtered water, wifi, and a friendly and safe driver. It also allowed for a varied look at the massive, diverse city of Bangkok, with 1,000' skyscrapers adjacent to ancient temples and giant golden Buddha statues. Upon arrival, I was greeted at the car and taken directly to my suite (a bonus, unexpected upgrade!) to check in, avoiding the front desk entirely. The wonderful check in agent presented me with a beautiful hand-crafted bracelet made of fresh orchids and had tea and a fruit tray welcome gift waiting in the room. The room itself was impressive, with a foyer, office area, living area, bedroom, a huge closet/dressing area, a magnificent full bath, and also a half bath off the office area. There were beautiful panoramic views of the Chao Praya river and cityscape across the bank. The fixtures and furnishings were all high quality, and the room's amenities left little to be desired. It was a very impressive setup and quite possibly the nicest hotel room I've ever stayed in. The riverfront cafe offers a nightly dinner buffet, which I didn't get to enjoy, and a morning breakfast buffet, which I happily did get to enjoy. The breakfast offering is large and varied, with numerous fresh juice options, a beautiful fruit display, pastries galore, standard western options like sausage and eggs, a myriad of eastern fare including some top notch crab fried rice, and a made-to-order customized eggs benedict station. The Peninsula also offers free river ferries to multiple locations, including the Mandarin Oriental hotel across the river and the massive IconSiam mall just upriver. This service is scheduled, quick and easy and avoids the jam-packed Bangkok street scene. Although I did not utilize either one, the pool area is lovely, and the fitness center appeared to be well-equipped. The spa has a wealth of options and is extremely elegant and relaxing. I can't see any type of traveler going wrong in choosing to stay at the Peninsula. It checks so many boxes without breaking the budget like some of the pricer neighbors along the river.

Excellent location, beautiful hotel and excellent customer service. Stayyed over night from a cruise ship and thoroughly enjoyed the hotel. The amenities were top notch, the food was teriffic and a wonderful staff. Used as much as we could during our 24 hour stay and wish we could have stayed longer. The rooms were very spacious and comfortable and the views outstanding. About 100 meters from the ICONASIA mall.

Lovely hotel and staff in excellent locatin but rooms need a refresh. Dated and not up to level of Peninsula in other cities (ie no plugs next to bed, clunky technology, lots of tired wood furniture)

The Peninsula Bangkok provided us with an excepcional experience in Bangkok. Personel were kind and attentive, room was spacious and wel curated. Food was delicious. Beautiful flower decoration around the hotel and an amazing setting at the Chao Phraya River. Hotel boat service added an extra charm to the hotel.
