About the Hotel

Board a private speedboat bound for The Siam Hotel at Saphan Taksin central pier and leave Bangkok’s chaos behind. This urban retreat, part of the Legend collection of Preferred Hotels & Resorts, is a one-of-a-kind marriage of traditional Thai culture and delicious Art Deco ornamentation designed by “Architectural Digest’s Top 100” recipient Bill Bensley and overseen by Krissada Sukosol Clapp, a Thai pop singer and actor who won the country’s equivalent of a Best Actor Oscar. The resort sits on three acres of riverfront land in the royal Dusit district and draws inspiration from Paris’s Musée d’Orsay. Guests are blanketed in tranquility in oversized suites teeming with antiques.

Reviews for The Siam Hotel

Oasis in Bangkok; Highly recomend

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

We stayed here over ten years ago and loved it so much that it was a no brainer to come back for our one week stay in Bangkok. We were delighted to find the property to be as beautiful and the service as perfect as we remembered it to be. We stayed in one of the suites behind the pool, and it was a beautiful space. It wouldn't do it justice to call it a room, they succeeded in creating a peaceful world unto its own with an outer door, a plunge pool, a terrace above that overlooks the river and a comfortable, spacious and beautiful quarters inside. Before our trip, my husband asked for the hotel to have mangosteens (my favorite fruit) placed in our room, and so I was so delighted to find a huge bowl of them that they replenished throughout our stay. Non-alcoholic beverages and snacks were complimentary as were the delicious banana chips that they make themselves. The Siam also has a lovely and large selection of breakfast items — you can order as much as you want and everything is made to order. I stuck to the Thai breakfasts, which were all delicious (if you are a lover of pad see eew, get the seafood noodles!). My husband fell in love with the Thai omelet. I did once order the coconut waffles because I was attracted by the description, but I wouldn't recommend it; the waffles were soggy. - Highly recommend the massages at the spa, which is beautiful and very peaceful. The rates are more expensive than elsewhere but comparable to a serious Thai massage place in Chicago (ergo affordable by U.S. standards). - Don't recommend getting nails done at the spa. They have a very limited number of colors (5-6), and the pedicure is done lying on your back. I got a chip in one of my nails within two days in a place I've never gotten a chip before. There are a bunch of nice nail places in Bangkok (particularly around Sukhumvit near the Emporium). - Do sign up for the cooking class. We had ours with the executive chef. He's from New Zealand, but has lived in Thailand for 17 years and is very knowledgeable. Going to the market with him was a wonderful experience because he could understand our questions and where we were coming from and explain everything to us. - I would not recommend the Thai dinner there. We invited Thai friends on our last night and while the setting was beautiful, it was extremely disappointing, easily the worst meal we had on our trip. The soft shell crabs in particular uniformly arrived cold, which was a mystery since you would hope they would serve it as soon as it came out of the fryer. The tuna dish was excellent, but everything else was ordinary, and the service was confused, to put it mildly. For example, we clearly explained that one person could not take spice, but everyone else could, and instead of adjusting just one dish, they adjusted all of them. -

Home away from home in Bangkok

We recently stayed at The Siam for a family vacation for three nights. This was our first trip to Bangkok and we are so thankful we chose to stay at The Siam, you couldn’t ask for anything better. We had a pool villa and the room was spectacular from beginning to end, from the comfortable bed to the amazing bathroom to our own dipping pool which is a blessing on the hot days in Bangkok. The entire property is immaculate, you can tell everyone takes pride in maintaining the property and servicing the guests. Every staff member was friendly and helpful and a special thanks to our butler who helped arrange a boat trip to the floating market. We ate at the restaurants on site and the food was outstanding. We would ask if they had something that wasn’t on the menu for our son and they always delivered with no problem. The entire property is just amazing and is like staying at a beautiful house instead of a hotel. We truly felt at home the entire time and will definitely return, thank you everyone from the GM who came at greeted us at breakfast to the shop attendant who always waved at us, to housekeeping who kept everything beautiful.

Exceptional stay!

If you like understated luxury, exceptional hospitality and beautiful objets d’art, The Siam is the place for you. The setting on the river is beautiful and you can easily get around Bangkok with the hotel shuttle boat and access to taxis and tuk-tuks. Nick Downing, the GM, runs a great team and is ever present which added such a warm touch to our stay. Additionally, a shout-out to Krys (our “butler”) who couldn’t do enough for us. All around, a fabulous few days and can’t wait until we can return to this lovely property.

The Siam Delivers Beyond Expectations. Individualized Service on a Breathtaking Property!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 months ago

As part of an annual trip with my wife we spent two nights with The Siam. From the start the staff were fantastically responsive via e-mail and WhatsApp while coordinating our visit. Seamless airport transfer and welcoming check-in. The property is magnificent and you can see that in pictures but add in the rest of the senses, especially the individualized service The Siam set a new level for us . With custom rooms/suites and great on-property restaurants it did not disappoint. An architectural marvel. Butler/Concierge was next-level. It was hard o leave. Thank you to Nick and the full team for the memories.
