Open your eyes to verdant tree-lined streets, a vibrant atmosphere embracing the arts, and the beautiful sunshine and weather of the Mediterranean, as you arrive at the Hotel Sofia. Located in the heart of Barcelona's bustling shopping and business center, and just minutes from the sea, you will experience this city in style. Plush rooms are bright and inviting, crafted with soft pastel tones and dark, rich wood furniture and accents. Sunlight streams through large picture windows, while city views and the Mediterranean in the distance will take your breath away. Luxurious bathrooms offer complete serenity, while all the modern amenities and services leave you feeling like royalty. Relax and enjoy all that Barcelona has to offer from the lap of luxury at the Hotel Princess Sofia.
Wake to a beautiful day on your first morning, and enjoy a fabulous breakfast at Contraste Restaurant or at iQ smart fresh food, with a menu carefully designed by a nutritionist. Venture out for the day to discover this amazing city, and start with a stroll down the famed La Rambla. Enjoy fantastic and eclectic shopping, vibrant street performances, and delightful cafés where you can sit, relax and people watch. Make your way to La Sagrada Familia, a magnificent temple designed by Anton Gaudi and begun in 1881, where you can marvel at its massive structure, which is still being constructed today. Continue on to Gaudi's psychedelic Park Guell, on a hill overlooking the city, and enjoy a pleasantly strange afternoon amongst serpentine benches, brilliant tile mosaics, giant decorative lizards, and gingerbread-styled houses. In the afternoon stop in at a lovely café for a true taste of Barcelona and enjoy fabulous fresh seafood and pintxos, the delightful tapas-styled local snacks. Take the rest of the afternoon to relax with a sail along the Mediterranean coast, or be moved by an astounding performance at the Gran Teatre del Liceu or L'Auditori. That night, return to the hotel for a well-deserved massage at AQUA Diagonal Spa, then enjoy a fun-filled dinner in the hotel's very own German Biergarten. At Hotel Sofia, every day is truly this magical.

I stayed here for four nights while attending a destination wedding — both families and dozens of guests stayed at this property, and most shared the same complaints. What should have been a joyful experience turned into a frustrating stay due to the hotel’s sheer lack of quality and care. Restaurant – 1MPAR: Service was consistently poor. Morning buffet food sat for hours under heat lamps, lukewarm at best and stone cold by the time it reached your plate. Staff were indifferent — no one cared if guests asked for freshly made eggs or a hot meal. During dinner, especially at a vegetarian-only event, the food was downright terrible: cold pasta, stale bread, and watery drinks. The chefs and waitstaff seemed completely disengaged, showing no pride or attention to the guests. Hotel Room Experience: The room was dark, poorly lit, and unwelcoming. After dusk, you could barely see enough to read or work. The bathroom emitted a nauseating stench of sewage every afternoon — a foul mix of methane and hydrogen sulfide that spread into the entire room, even when the bathroom hadn’t been used. Complaints went nowhere; housekeeping sprayed air fresheners instead of fixing the issue. Overall Impression: For a property carrying the Grand Hyatt name, this was an embarrassment. Between the indifferent staff, awful food, lack of cleanliness, and sewer odors, the experience was closer to a rundown motel than a luxury hotel. The management’s apathy during a large wedding group stay was especially disappointing. Verdict: A five-star brand delivering one-star performance. Would never stay here again — and would strongly advise future guests to look elsewhere.

Grand Hyatt Barcelona should have a variety of breakfast served and not the same menu daily. It's halal option is limited.

While this is generally a pleasant, comfortable hotel with a very nice staff, it did not live up to my only other experience at a Grand Hyatt, which was in Taipei. That stay was so pleasant, I eagerly booked my stay at Grand Hyatt Barcelona. As soon as I entered my room I was hit in the face with an overwhelming amount of room spray. I left a message for housekeeping not to use it during the duration of my five night stay. What I found when the room spray was gone, was that it had been masking a faint smell of sewage! I reported it to guest services, and was unnerved when the employee did not seem surprised. She offered to send someone up to do a "procedure" on the drains at a time I was out of the room. She did offer to put me in another room if it did not clear up. It did go away, but then late that night when i was in bed it returned. I wore a mask to sleep. I later figured out that learned that the smell went away when I closed the shower door and plugged the sinks. Besides the smell came and went at odd times. I had a very busy schedule, so rather than repack all of my belongings and moving when I might just encounter the same problem, I just lived with it and kept the drains closed. At the end of my stay, they left me a note apologizing for any discomfort, along with another box of the macarons they'd left as a welcome when I arrived. Not the most generous consolation prize for such an egregious issue. I worked in a hotel in my youth, and we would have gone out of our way to buy a dinner or a massage for the guest.

I stayed at the Grand Hyatt Barcelona for 7 nights in November 2025 and had a truly wonderful experience. As a World of Hyatt Globalist, I used a Suite Upgrade Award and was given a Junior Suite King, which turned out to be outstanding. The room was spacious, luxurious, beautifully designed, and impeccably clean. The staff deserve special mention. Everyone I interacted with was warm, professional, and genuinely helpful. The hotel’s location is fantastic as well, right in the heart of Barcelona, making it easy to reach major attractions, restaurants, and public transportation. Although the outdoor pool was closed for the winter, we thoroughly enjoyed the indoor heated pool, located in the spa area. The spa also includes a dry sauna, steam room, and additional facilities, and we visited twice because it was so relaxing. Breakfast was another highlight. It was varied, generous, and delicious, with a rich buffet. As a Globalist, I also received two complimentary à-la-carte dishes each morning, which was a great perk and made the experience even more enjoyable. I also had access to the Grand Lounge, which offered coffee and light refreshments throughout the day. From 17:00 to 19:00, they served a selection of tasty tapas, a lovely treat and a perfect way to unwind in the afternoon. Overall, my stay was highly positive. I would absolutely return to the Grand Hyatt Barcelona and would gladly recommend it to friends and fellow travelers.

Amazing Hotel! Situated right in the epicenter of the city, it's a safe and spotless haven. Enjoy incredible dining options, including a top-notch steakhouse, a vibrant Peruvian restaurant, a trendy tapas bar, and a cozy coffee bar—all fantastic. I can't recommend this place enough!
