We had an awesome experience at this hotel. We are very grateful to Paul and Jaqueline at the bar lounge. It was my daughter’s birthday and we asked if we could get a dessert. Paul made sure we got a dessert and my daughter could celebrate her day. Really nice gesture by both of them.

My first visit to Barcelona was incredible thanks in large part of this hotel. The location in the heart of the city made so much accessible just outside the door. The staff was professional, friendly, and so helpful - the front desk, the coffee shop, the restaurant and the front door. Jorge was the BEST! Thank you for a terrific experience!

Unfortunately, our stay at Le Méridien Barcelona was defined by problems the hotel itself created—and then handled poorly, both operationally and attitudinally. We were initially assigned a room described as newly refurbished. That description quickly proved inaccurate when it began to rain inside the room. This was not a minor inconvenience but a serious infrastructure failure. When we notified staff, we were very clear: we were not interested in “upgrades” or perks—only a room that did not leak. Instead of simply acknowledging the issue and resolving it professionally, staff framed our relocation as a “complimentary upgrade.” This was frankly insulting. Moving guests out of a defective room is not an upgrade; it is the bare minimum expectation. Presenting it as a favor rather than a correction reflected a troubling lack of accountability. The replacement room introduced a new problem: significant noise from the floor above, to the point that we had to call security at 1:00 a.m. to ask that other guests be told to stop making noise. So we went from a room that was quiet but leaked, to one that still had issues and was loud enough to disrupt sleep. What made the experience particularly frustrating was the amount of time and effort required on our part—countless minutes, if not hours—dealing with staff who seemed indifferent to problems they themselves created. Simple issues were not resolved cleanly, promptly, or with any sense of professionalism. Instead, we were met with deflection, poor framing, and a tone that felt dismissive rather than service-oriented. For a hotel operating at this price point and under the Le Méridien/Marriott brand, both the infrastructure failures and the customer service response were deeply disappointing. We expected competence, accountability, and respect. Unfortunately, we received none of those consistently during our stay.

A very clean hotel with professional staff and good facilities. The breakfast was very complete, with excellent natural ingredients. The service was very good overall. The only issue was that on the first day at check-in, we were not informed that a city tax would be charged per night of stay. On the last day, at check-out, they charged us 15 euros per night. I mentioned that this had never happened to us in any city or country, not even at another hotel in Barcelona where we had previously stayed, and the reception staff said that was correct and this tax is specific to their hotel.

Had the pleasure of staying at Le Meridien on my first trip to Barcelona. Felt at home with the phenomenal service from the kind and helpful staff. Iñaki Went above and beyond to ensure that we were comfortable.

We enjoyed our room at the hotel though for a lot more money it wasn’t really much better than our Sofitel Munich stay which was much less per night. The location of the hotel and the service there was great.
The dinner at the hotel, for which we received a lovely 50 euro amenity was one we wish we had skipped. It was the worst paella we have ever had anywhere including several times in Spain. One starter was very good but the other 2 were not very good.
