The One Barcelona

Excellent hotel. Very nice staff, comfortable and quiet rooms, and a terrific rooftop bar and restaurant. Great location for walking Barcelona.

Nice hotel with great service and an excellent location. The entire team — doormen, concierge, and staff — were all very welcoming and professional. The rooms are comfortable and well-designed, although it feels a bit unusual that you enter directly into the bathroom area upon arrival. Clearly something to get used to. The bed was extremely comfortable. Breakfast was excellent, with a wide à la carte selection and top-notch service. The only downside was that the sauna wasn’t working during the weekend of our stay, and the gym is rather small. Other than that, great hotel. A wonderful stay.

The One Barcelona is a boutique hotel situated a block away from La Pedrera. It is far enough away from the surrounding main streets to avoid overcrowding, and close enough to walk to any of the stores, sites and restaurants in the area in less than 10 minutes. The rooms are well apportioned and spacious, although walking directly into the bathroom takes some getting used to. The reason for leaving The One a 3 Star review is because of their checkout process. Every hotel I have ever stayed at takes a deposit above the cost of the room for incidentals, which is credited back (minus any additional charges) at the end of the stay. That allows me to leave hotels without taking the extra time going through the checkout process. At The One, the hotel staff literally held our bags hostage and refused to let us get in our cab to the airport (we were running late for our flight) because of a 70 euro charge that wasn’t even explained to me. Due to our flight situation, I quickly paid it without asking for an explanation of the extra charge. I have traveled around the world and always leave hotels without formally checking out. Each time I leave in that manner, I am emailed an invoice of my charges. In the rare event that my deposit does not cover incidental charges or if no deposit is taken, I am sent a link to pay the extra charges. Because of the way the checkout process went at The One, we will not be returning and will be staying at the El Palace Hotel, Cotton House, Le Meridien, The EDITION, Monument Hotel or Hotel Arts for our next visit.

We had a great stay in this magnificient hotel. We had the Barcelona Suite which was absolutely gorgeous with plenty of space for our 3 kids. The staff was very friendly. The kids received some nice gifts which they absolutely adored. We will certainly come back!

The staff at The One Barcelona are first rate. We are so very grateful to the Conceirege team, the beautiful people in housekeeping and the dining staff. We arrived without luggage, never again British Air, and The One Barcelona worked so hard to help return it two us 48 hours later and to accommodate our needs during the time. We are most greatful to such wonderful people. THANK YOU ALL!
