SLS Barcelona

Actually struggling for the right words. A hotel of two halves. Greeted if that can be the word by security at the door who just looked us up and down. Checked into the room - beautiful! Went for a wander around the hotel to view the facilities - rudely looked at by security and staff of restaurants like we were shop lifters! Rude, and stopped to ask what we wanted. (We cancelled our dinner reservation after this). Visited Coral - lovely service and food - great team - thank you!! Decided to go for a walk - OMG! The waste incineration plant that greeted us outside the hotel was a delight and the walk was promptly cut short due to feeling unease at the area we were walking - wasteland, building works, the smell of waste and derelict buildings! Awful. For breakfast we decided we didn’t want anything huge and so didn’t want to pay 35 euros do wandered to get a coffee and croissant from the hotel reception. Perfect! Day 2 we noticed they did granola and yoghurt - great! However when we told them we were going to take it back to the room the staff then were rude, told me I had to go back to the room and order it from there and if I didn’t I needed to sign a disclaimer form to carry a bowl of yoghurt!!! What on earth. We wanted to eat on the room balcony as reception at 8-15am had club music playing and smelt of waste (a common theme - areas would one minute smell ok and then the next smell of waste coming through the air con). Whilst the hotel is lovely it is lacking atmosphere, consistent service and completion! The spa wasn’t open which we weren’t aware of and compared to many other hotels - is not 5 star. Wouldn’t recommend.

5* only based on visual effects… on welcome reception is taking 700€ as a deposit for a minibar, no one told us that before arrival. We asked for ice, charge was 5€, we asked for spoon (to take medication)- another 5€. We left the room leaving card behind, called reception from the hall it took them 15 minutes asking another managers how to solve the issue, eventually house keeping helped us. Everything seems to be a problem in this hotel, smallest query is too much to deal. From 5 stars hotel you would expect immaculate service, this one is very far from it. If you don’t want to be charged for air, ice, and spoons avoid.

I think my expectations were probably a bit too high for this one as it didn’t really live up to it. Nothing was really wow apart from the roof top pools, but even then they seemed to lack something There is definitely a lack of atmosphere within the hotel, no where of an evening to have a drink and relax, as the roof top bar shuts at 9pm. The only place is the reception bar which is t great. The food was good and the staff friendly, but at this moment in time it doesn’t live up to the sls brand.

A stunning new addition to the luxury hotel portfolio in Barcelona. This venue is situated by Port Forum and has beautifully appointed port facing bedrooms as well as some fine event space. Just loved the friendly team and staff and the really cool design of the hotel.
