Reviews for The Royal Crescent Hotel & Spa

Generally Excellent.

Beautiful Hotel. We were on the Christmas Festive Package . Food was of excellent quality and very plentiful, supplemented with complimentary Tattinger Champagne and selected wines, tea, coffee etc. We have stayed in 5* hotels all over the world but the service and friendliness of the staff at The Royal Crescent was the best that we have experienced anywhere. We had a Heritage room which although quite small, was warm & comfortable with a lovely view of the gardens and beyond. Unfortunately there were a few things that disappointed, the first being the fact that there was no Nespresso coffee machine in the room, which is very unusual these days and is somewhat expected. Also, the bathroom was very small with no walk in shower. I realise that this is an old listed building but climbing into the bath in order to have a shower is not good for people of a certain age. As a consequence we mainly showered in the spa, which did have a walk in shower. Despite the above, we had a lovely enjoyable stay and although expensive it was well worth doing and we would recommend.

Poor Hospitality

Popped in for coffee on our morning walk. The concierge didn't know if non residents could have coffee, " go out the back door follow the right hand path and see what they say" We were eventually able to enjoy a lovely coffee and biscuits served by a waitress looking extremely glum! There's not much of a welcome here, apart from maybe the bar manager. I think he was the only member of staff who smiled the whole time we were there.

Not the best of times!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

We were extremely disappointed with the overall experience at The Royal Crescent after looking forward to staying there for many years. The rooms were just ordinary quality and the decor leading to the rooms was shabby. The restaurant experience, although marketed as a fine dining experienced failed miserably - the ambiance was awful - playing out Christmas hits during a four course tasing menu - the staff seemed generally confused and we were left waiting to be welcomed and seated in the restaurant for 5 minutes even though three waiters had seen us. The urinal was full of urine - and there was no toilet paper in the toilet. We had booked this specially for our 10th wedding anniversary, and with the exception of the receptionist acknowledging this - there was no mention of it again during our stay. On checking out, the receptionist asked how our stay was and I mentioned our disappointment and she then insisted I spoke with the duty manager. He initially was just sympathetic to my complaints, but when I showed him the pictures I took, seemed to be more concerned - and did refund our dinner costs. We had however, paid £450 for the room - which is a lot of money to have a non-memorable stay. He did say if we came again, he would give us an upgrade - but I assume that means we would have to spend a further £450 for the room in the first place! A poor experience all round!

The Best Hotel Experience in Bath

What a wonderful gem of a hotel. Wonderfully comfortable with friendly and welcoming staff. It’s a special treat to stay on the historic Crescent feeling at once like you’re in a Jane Austen novel or an episode of Bridgerton! This hotel is consistently good and we very much enjoyed our stay whilst visiting Bath’s Christmas Market.

Fabulous stay

Absolutely fabulous stay at this iconic hotel! From the moment we arrived we felt very special. Our room - I booked the cheapest - had every amenity with lovely views over the garden and an incredibly comfortable bed. Breakfast was delicious and the afternoon tea was one of the best I’ve had. I have already booked to return! Stay here, you won’t be disappointed - it’s not cheap but it’s definitely worth the expense!
