We loved our time at the Royal Crescent and the city of Bath, our first time to Bath and the Royal Crescent. our room overlooked the beautiful courtyard. Sadly, our travel schedule kept us from enjoying leisure time in your beautiful garden. Another time for sure.

The Royal Crescent is undoubtedly very beautiful and at moments during our stay offered truly excellent service. Facility-wise the room value is good (bathroom a little dated, perhaps) and the Spa is boutique and calming, if a little small - luckily we had it to ourselves but I would have been uncomfortable had there been many others due to the forced social intimacy of such a small space. The grounds, views and communal areas have some interesting sculpture and art and the staff wear a smart green uniform with velvet waistcoats. Every detail seems to have been carefully considered, which I applaud. I found concierge to be particularly efficient and helpful. Unfortunately, I do have some disappointing feedback: the service on our second day was hugely lacking. I waited 25 minutes to be served in the garden and eventually had to go and find a member of staff. Another twenty minutes later our two glasses of rose arrived. There are no loungers in the spa, only hard wicker chairs (four of them) limiting your ability to truly sit, stop and relax. Phones are not allowed, which I found out as I was unceremoniously frog marched to a locker by a member in the spirit of ‘privacy’ after she noticed mine on top of my clothes pile in the changing room. This is fine, I just didn’t like how rudely this was communicated to me by the prison guard, I mean fellow guest. I think my lasting impression is that the energy of the hotel might not be for me, or any others who are used to more laid back high-end hotels. It feels very uptight and proper at times, with lots of afternoon-tea in stiff wooden garden furniture and not many places to comfortably relax. The clientele most definitely lacks diversity and could feel judgemental and very formal - particularly in the spa as aforementioned. As a side note, the £30.00 per head breakfast charge is amongst the most expensive I’ve encountered: £60.00 for two eggs Benedict, although excellent, is unconscionable in addition to the room rate. Overall it was a pleasant stay, but I am conflicted about returning and may prefer somewhere a little less formal next time we visit Bath.

Beautiful stay

The Royal Crescent is such a beautiful hotel. The room had a view to their very pretty garden. The staff were so friendly and they always went out of their way to accommodate every need. They have a small but peaceful spa area. We are planning to return and have decided that the Royal Crescent is the only hotel that we would consider staying at in Bath.

Great experience in a beautiful environment

I had a Birthday Afternoon tea at this fantastic hotel, fantastic quality food and the staff were friendly and attentive which made the whole experience even better. The only couple of negative points were, I was disappointed with the pastry selection, as a chocoholic, I was looking forward to at least one chocolate pastry, but it was all fruit selection which was not really for me, so I skipped this part of the tea, the only other small thing was no clotted cream for the scones, just butter and jam. But great place to have Afternoon tea, well worth doing.
