Chateau la Cheneviere is closing its doors this winter, in order to prepare for its reopening in March 2025. A big thank you to all our customers and partners for this wonderful 2024 season.
Set close to Omaha Beach and the historic town of Bayeux, Port en Bessin conceals a treasure that lies at the end of a long drive " Chateau La Cheneviere ". Impeccable lawns, ancient trees and a charmingly old-fashioned rose garden... arriving on the estate is like strolling onto the lands of an English Lord who fell under the spell of Calvados region. The manor appears at last, a dignified Norman edifice from the 18th century, it combines the charms of an old house with the conveniences of a cosy English Manor. Discover the two restaurants, Le Botaniste, the gastronomic restaurant open every evening from Tuesday to Saturday, where Chef Didier Robin's cuisine invites you to a fine dining experience and Le Petit Jardin our bistronomic restaurant awaiting for you in la Cheneviere's old conservatory. The menu focuses on fresh, high-quality products, all locally sourced from the Château's vegetable garden. Le Petit Jardin is open from Thursday to Monday for lunch and dinner.

The rooms ate 3 stars at the most. Dirty, old. Paint is coming off, rusted lamps, hair dryer with a push button- like in an 1980 motel ... spiders and bugs. Extra blanket that looks from the last centurt, an old safe. Bathroom is cheap and broken. Bed is old and looks bad. See it all in the pics and enlarge them for a closer look. Also room door has no shade so the light from the outside is not letting u sleep. The restaurant served food with no taste, i couldn't believe it's made in France. DON'T SAY YOU WERE NOT WARNED!!

During our D-Day excursion, we had the unforgettable pleasure of stopping for lunch at Château La Chenevière — and I can honestly say it felt like stepping into a dream. The 17th-century manor is nestled among perfectly manicured gardens and centuries-old trees, with every corner of the property whispering elegance, history, and peace. Lunch was exceptional — refined yet relaxed, showcasing local flavors in the most beautiful setting imaginable. Afterward, we had time to walk the grounds, and I was struck by how serene and timeless everything felt. The chateau blends classic French charm with an inviting warmth that made it hard to leave. If you’re ever in Normandy, make this place a priority. It’s not just a stop — it’s an experience. From the peaceful gardens to the stunning architecture and thoughtful hospitality,.

I was thrilled to return to this beautiful property. Besides its physical appeal, the location of the property is its main asset. It is the perfect base for visiting all the Normandy landing beaches and other military sites. They had recommended a marvelous guide named Igor from Gold Beach Company who made our experience memorable. I highly recommend him and his, company. The bedroom was exquisite, the dinner in the gourmet restaurant excellent, and the gardens, magnificent. The staff is superb and I especially want to mention Giovanni, who gave me so much personal attention. He was most professional and graciousness. Thank you to all for another superb experience.

Thought this Chateau would be an excellent choice for our family stay in Normandy. Unfortunately it was not. Other than the service and food at La Botineste it was not good. Breakfast service, Jardin food and service, housekeeping and not assisting us with the need for tickets for Giverney was below the standard of care for what you are going to spend here. The guide and driver Julie for St Michel and Normandy tour that was excellent. Will not be returning here on our next visit. Laundry service was also done poorly. No enthusiasm with greeting or assistance at Front Desk other than Justine. We should have listened to our cousins who loved The Lara in town
