Located right on the Potsdamer Platz, Berlin's most celebrated public square and the busiest intersection in Europe, Grand Hyatt Berlin has its finger on the pulse of the city's business deals and cultural attractions. The hotel is defined by its clean, crisp architectural lines and lofty open spaces - there's an indelible sense of big-city chic here. Even though the best of Berlin surrounds Grand Hyatt, an array of in-house activities might inspire an afternoon in: Winemaker events, sake tastings and cooking classes emphasize the hotel's gourmet-centric philosophy, while an impressive rooftop spa and fitness complex welcomes the weary traveler looking to unwind.

Grand Hyatt Berlin is a fairly typical luxury hotel in Germany. The staffs were friendly and well-trained. I was impressed with their pre-arrival service. They emailed me a day before my arrival notifying that they could not upgrade me (well I am on a point stay) but will offer me a food & beverage coupon, which other Hyatt hotels can perhaps learn from it. I arrived early so my only request is early check-in. While no room was available, I was invited to go to the Club Lounge and enjoyed a light breakfast while waiting for a room to open up. The lounge was quiet so it was a nice place to wait for a room to become available. The lounge itself was opened all day with breakfast (continental with some hot dishes), afternoon tea (just some cakes and small bites), and evening cocktail hours with a few cold and hot dishes (not enough for a meal but good enough for a snack). The lounge agents were very friendly and I witness a few interaction between the staffs and returning guests. I got my room in the late morning, which I appreciated. At least I could get a shower before heading out for lunch and day of touring the city. The room is luxurious and what I expect from a Grand Hyatt. I had a good rest. Location was good and I manage to walk around the city easily. The hotel has a few eateries and there are plenty of restaurants within walking distance. The Mall of Berlin is also within walking distance, so you have plenty to do. The only disappointment is my inability to enter the fitness center, despite it is supposed to be 24 hours. The door was shut and the mechanism for accessing the lounge is just not well-maintained. I could go to the lobby but in the end, I decided just to get ready early for my morning flight. I told the receptionist during my checkout and I hope they could fix the door, so future guests will not face the same issues. Maybe they should just put an intercom phone there so guests can ask someone to help with the door. The location of the gym is really strange, as it requires you to go to the top floor and take another escalator to enter the Club Olympus complex.

Lovely courtyard Exec room. Great shower and bath. Very clean with a nice working fridge and amenities. Very quiet. Great location near Berliner Philharmonic and Musical Instrument Museum. Not far to Reichstag and Brandenburg Gate. And one of my favorite parks in the world!

Excellent hotel: the location, the amenities (they speak Balmain), comfy beds, and exceptionally nice receptionists (talking about people who always greeted us with grandeur smile and pleasant demeanors). My friend needed to take a work call, so he had to use the business center and left a little bit later than we did. He told us later that when he left, the receptionist even attentively asked him if he needed a water bottle, etc, to bring along the way. It is this little thing that counts... We moved to another high-end hotel, and I should have just booked and stayed in this hotel. They also have a grand piano in the lobby - if it's not because we were too tired, my friend would try to play to see if it's working lol.
