Hotel Adlon Kempinski Berlin

Stayed at the Adlon Hotel for 4 nights. It was a wonderful stay in the most fabulous location. All the staff were very friendly and engaging. Breakfast was exceptional in terms of quality, choice and service. Didn't eat in the other restaurants. Had drinks in the bar each evening which was great. Room very spacious with most comfortable beds and duvets, bedding etc Probably the best city hotel we have stayed in made special by the beautiful decor and wonderful staff. Planning on coming back at the end of December in to January.

If I could give 0 stars, I would. My stay at the Adlon Kempinski was an absolute disgrace. I checked in around 9:00 p.m. and was given a room that hadn’t even been cleaned – including the previous guest’s beard stubble still in the sink. Disgusting and completely unacceptable for any hotel, let alone one that dares to call itself “luxury.” When I complained at reception, I had to wait over an hour before being given a so-called “upgrade.” That room turned out to be already occupied – an embarrassing and unprofessional disaster. Back to reception again, and the next room I received was so tiny that the door couldn’t even be opened fully without hitting the bed.

Beautiful hotel, incredible staff, amazing food. Two 19 year old boys definitely got their money’s worth at fixed price breakfast. 😂 We had an executive suite which had plenty of room for the two boys to share a room (their “full” beds were two separated twin beds - perfect for us) and I had a rollaway bed in the living room and the suite had 1.5 baths. It also had a stationary bike in a small separate room. Beautifully appointed. Great location.

There is only one place to stay in Berlin and by far this is it. Great art deco features , steeped in history and located close to all monuments. Great service and stylish accommodation.

My wife and I stayed at the Adlon for four nights in August on a leisure break to Berlin. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would be happy to return. We stayed in a Superior Deluxe room, which was a very good size with plenty of space. Note that the room is advertised as having a 'side view' of the Brandenburg Gate but that is only true if you lean out of the window (which however I did every morning and evening because it's such a great view). We paid EUR 2,300 / GBP 2,000 for room only basis on a fully flexible/ cancellable rate. The hotel location is great - the U-Bahn/ S-Bahn station is right outside the front door of the hotel with good connections around the city and you could walk to the Berliner Dom or Checkpoint Charlie in probably 20 minutes if you wanted. There was minimal noise from the street after about 10pm because the Brandenburg Gate is blocked to traffic so Unter den Linden is a no through road at that end. Combined with a very comfy bed, it made for several good nights of sleep. Front door staff were excellent. Housekeeping was professional. The hotel has a nice looking pool if you only want to float around (11m long) and a decent gym with a reasonable mix of resistance and cardio machines. Why not 5 stars? A couple of issues. Breakfast was hopeless, your only choices are (1) a gargantuan breakfast buffet costing a ridiculous amount of money or (2) coffee and a croissant in the lobby. We solved the problem by walking 5-6 minutes to Ama Cafe on Dorotheenstrasse where you can get an excellent healthy breakfast for a reasonable price (see separate review). Second, the room decor was a little tired, although only a little (and quite unlike the very swanky lobby). So if we could award half stars we would be at 4.5 but as we can't we'll award 4.0 stars. But as I say, we'd be happy to return.
