Originally built in the 1930’s, SO/ Berlin Das Stue’s diplomatic legacy is evident in the heritage building’s stately architecture and modernist façade, designed by German architect Johann Emil Schaudt (1871-1957) and inspired by Danish classicism. Located in Berlin’s diplomatic quarter, Das Stue was renovated to invoke a calming ambiance, with open spaces and contemporary minimalist design. The Potsdam based firm Axthelm Architekten added a new wing on the building’s former back courtyard, which is clad in a floral patterned photo concrete surface acting as an elegant counterbalance to the rough dressed stone of the main building. While Patricia Urquiola artistically directed and designed all public spaces and fluidly integrated shared spaces such as the lobby, cocktail bar and restaurants, LVG Arquitectura finalized the interior room and suite design.

What a fantastic stay! From the moment we checked in to the moment we left, everything was just perfect. Our room was immaculate and super comfy, and that bed was honestly the best part – we slept like babies! The service was top-class all around – everyone was so friendly and went out of their way to help. And breakfast? Amazing! We really enjoyed every moment here and would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a great stay.

Our room was spacious and super comfortable, with a great view of the zoo. Staff were friendly and professional – always helpful but never in your face. Carte Blanche was a real highlight: creative dishes, bold flavors, and a beautiful atmosphere. Breakfast was just as impressive. A peaceful, stylish retreat in the middle of Berlin. We left recharged – and will definitely be back. Thanks. Matt

Fabulous boutique hotel. During a recent trip to Europe, we stayed in four different hotels, and this was by far our favorite. From the moment we checked in, the staff made us feel so welcomed, and really went above and beyond throughout our stay. Our room was so cool, filled with unique touches. And it overlooked the South African animal compound in the zoo, which was truly delightful- like being on safari in the middle of Berlin. Breakfast was also a real treat, delicious with a wide variety of options, and very well run. We also enjoyed drinks in the cozy bar before heading back to the room every night. Honestly, it was a perfect stay.

It felt like a tranquil oasis in a hectic city, with the location next to the zoo and park. The hotel is the perfect combination of modern and historical. The decor is elegant and chic, with an animal theme and modern furnishings. The views are spectacular. Most importantly the staff was extremely welcoming, authentically warm and extremely accommodating. Dinner was fantastic in the French restaurant. The only area for improvement was the breakfast. I recommend they add pancakes, fried potatoes and other hot dishes. Also, public transportation in the area is not great so you may end out taking Ubers but it was well worth it. This truly was a five star experience. I will be back!

The team was great, really helpful and friendly. The hotel history is amazing and well maintained. Wonderful view to the Zoo and with an exclusive entrance(still need a ticket), food at the restaurant and the drinks at the bar were excellent. I will definitely come back soon. Danke.
