It was a disappointing stay for The Westin Grand Berlin

We encountered several issues that significantly impacted my overall experience. Especially when we were on our honeymoon. - 1: Front desk staff are not very welcoming. No luggage service provided neither offered. We also witness the morning receptionist were treating another guests harshly, I believe her name was Maria. - 2: Lack of Marriott Brand Standard Knowledge. Somewhat, you will have to ask receipts for what you should get. Which I feel it was not professional. I stayed in Multiple Marriott Brands, including Westin itself, which usually those things you are eligible to get as a Gold Elite, and are automatically offered and/or informed at the check-in at all Marriott Brands. Hence, there was nothing at The Westin Grand Berlin. - 3: After given the room, which we realize it was a standard room, we then made a request for the room upgrade, spent a few long minutes discussing about the upgrade which was provided at the end. However, the upgraded room assigned was Hot, assuming the AC wasn’t working. We asked the house keeping whom informed us the AC wasn't working in this specific room. We then asked nicely the front-desk check with technician if they can help, since the weather outside was Hot in that day. They Front Desk Manager refused to even check with the technician, and starting to educate us that “in Berlin you don't have Air-conditions during spring. So, you feel hot you should open the window of the room for a cool breeze”. This was from the same Front Desk person that was discussing harshly with another guests that we witness earlier at the check-in. All and all: Things were sorted out after few hours of tiring discussion, the next day’s front desk staff were very friendly and we were offered with some small amenity the next day. We chose The Westin Grand Berlin based on Marriott brand reputation for quality and service, and I regret to say that my experience did not reflect those. I believe feedback is important for improvement, and I hope you take this as an opportunity to address these shortcomings. Ps. I reason I put the review here is because I don’t receive any “tell us about your stay at xxxxx” email since checked-out (19th April 2025). And these reviews are based on our experience Only.

Great location, comfortable room!

This hotel is in a GREAT location, close to many, many Berlin landmarks and sites. While it's a large hotel, the staff is great, especially Boris, Guest Relations Manager, who helped me when my husband was ill (he recovered a day later) when we checked in. We enjoyed cocktails and food in the hotel and although the later is a bit pricey, the food was delicious. Re the bar, over our night day stay, I had more than one martini and was given one was much smaller than the others on prior days. When I asked about the size, bartender Vera came over, practically chewed me out and offered to put in a few ice cubes! When I asked for the bill, she brought it over to my husband, saying "Mr X, here is your bill" while I was standing there! Lesson? Avoid Vera!!! Although they have a buffet breakfast, we didn't think it was worth the price and there are many "Koffee" places within a block or two, with pastries not to be missed. This Westin offered a comfortable room, bottled water, coffee, a hot water pot, USB ports and a lovely bathroom. I would absolutely stay there again!

Historic Charm Meets Modern Comfort – A Great Stay at The Westin Grand

The Westin Grand is a beautiful, historic building – truly one of those famous places with a story. From the entrance to the bar and lobby, you can definitely feel its age, but in a charming way. The rooms, however, are a whole different story: super modern, stylish, and newly renovated. They’re chic, quiet, and incredibly comfortable – and you’re right in the heart of the city, directly on Unter den Linden. You couldn’t ask for a better location if you want to explore Berlin. The breakfast buffet was excellent, offering everything you could possibly want. The dining area was lovely, and overall, the atmosphere reminded us a little of New York – elegant, a bit classic, but relaxed at the same time. The staff were absolutely wonderful – super friendly, welcoming, and always helpful. Really top service throughout our stay. One small point of confusion: when researching beforehand, we found some photos online showing a pool. Apparently, these images are from the Westin Grand in Munich – not Berlin. It might have had a pool back in the day, but currently, there isn’t one. Still, overall: beautiful place, amazing location, modern comfort, and a truly professional and kind team. We would definitely come back!

A 5* haven in Berlin

We enjoyed a five night stay from 31st March, this time in a Grand classic suite The hotel is in an excellent location - close to many places of interest including topography of terror, museum island, Brandenburg gate, checkpoint Charlie and Alexanderplatz, (as well as the Christmas markets when visiting in the season). We have visited Berlin previously and this was our third stay at the Westin (November 2023, September 2024 and March 2025) The stay was again kindly arranged by Boris in Guest services who took the time to show us the different room types available when we called in during a previous visit staying at the Hilton, and has been an excellent liaison ever since ensuring all our stays are fantastic Boris is always friendly, very professional and helpful in person and via email We have previously stayed in a corner suite however changed to a Grand classic suite with balcony for this stay Both rooms are very well appointed with all the amenities you could require and more, the Grand classic suite is more our style and we will continue with this room type for future stays (Grand classic has traditional styling, the corner suites have modern styling) The room was cleaned to an excellent standard, with evening turn down service If you are unsure which hotel to go for we have also stayed in a corner suite at the Hilton, and whilst they are similar in terms of size the Westin is superior in amenities, more usable layout and the luxury feel to the room The ambiance of the hotel is luxurious but relaxing, bar staff friendly and engaging, reception staff helpful and Boris ensured our stay went without a hitch (as he always does) The bar prices are average for a hotel, and they have a good menu available for food in the bar area. The lobby area/ famous staircase is impressive just as you would expect from the photographs The hotel is close to a variety of restaurants and we enjoyed the mix of both, with the opportunity to return to the haven of the hotel after a long day of walking a welcome respite. The breakfast is extensive with omelettes/ eggs made to order, a plentiful continental selection and some hot breakfast items - for those that like their traditional bacon, sausage and beans etc you will not find those here but there are plenty of other choices (there were options of wurst, and streaky bacon) We have really enjoyed all our stays at the Westin and would not hesitate to recommend this hotel All staff were professional, friendly and helpful and the hotel gives more of a feeling of being a welcomed guest (rather than feeling like a customer in the Hilton) Thank you Westin Grand for another fantastic stay, and thank you Boris for introducing us to the Westin Grand and looking after us so well before and during each and every visit! For reference we have stayed in several luxury hotels including the Hilton Malta, and Jumeirah Beach Hotel Dubai however the guest service provided and our experience with Boris has been exemplary (even down to remembering my Partner's Birthday)

Very poor customer service.

I stayed at this hotel in February. As I was looking for a place to celebrate a special occasion, I noticed the hotel’s website recommended a local restaurant. I made a reservation there based on this recommendation, but unfortunately, my experience at the restaurant was very disappointing. Afterward, I emailed the hotel to share my feedback. I received a response that stated, “The feedback from our guests is almost exclusively positive.” There was no interest shown in understanding the nature of my dissatisfaction or what had gone wrong. I found this response rather dismissive, especially as they didn’t enquire about the specifics of my experience. Due to this lack of engagement and concern, I’ve decided I won’t be returning to the hotel.
