Reviews for The Sagamore Resort

Horrible Customer Service

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 days ago

Incredibly unprofessional front desk staff and reservation staff. I was following instructions on how to re-book my trip as I couldn't make my original dates and I was hung up on 3 separate occasions, told they could re-book me one day and the next they then said they couldn't and I will not be able to choose different days, just simply out of the entire cost of my stay. I will never book with the Sagamore in Lake George again. Absolutely terrible customer service and staff.

Bait and switch

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 days ago

We were at the Sagamore for a wedding and decided to upgrade to a "lake view room" which the description boasted had "breathtaking views of Lake George". We were able to spy bits of the lake through the trees, but most of our "breathtaking view" was a parking lot with noisy delivery trucks and smokestacks. That the Sagamore feels it is appropriate to charge you a premium for such a discount, disappointing view is deceitful. Don't bother!

Fantastic Family Getaway at the Sagamore Resort

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

We had an amazing time at the Sagamore Resort on Lake George! I've wanted to stay here since I saw it on Samantha Brown's show 21 years ago, and it didn't disappoint. This place blends historic charm with modern comforts perfectly. The moment we walked through those beautiful French doors into the charming lobby, we felt like we’d stepped back in time. We stayed in a spacious lodge room, which was a nice comfortable size but definitely dated (as others have said). That said I can't stress enough -- you don't go to the Sagamore for the rooms; you go for the experience, and it’s totally worth it. The grounds are gorgeous, with a huge lawn, beautiful gardens, and an infinity pool with stunning lake views. The lobby, with its cozy fireplaces and plush decor, is a perfect retreat year-round. The Sagamore has tons of family-friendly activities. Our kids loved the nightly movies at the rec center and activities like ice cream socials and s'mores nights. The free boat tour on a replica steamer was a big hit, with different routes throughout the day showing off the lake’s history. Dining at the Sagamore was great. We enjoyed meals at La Bella Vita, The Pavilion, and BRGR (formerly Mr. Brown’s Pub). The turkey burger at BRGR was one of the best burgers I’ve ever had! The setting is perfect for parents who want to enjoy a meal in peace while their kids run and play. During dinner, the lawn was full of kids playing tag, cartwheeling, and rolling around, occasionally running to the restaurant porches and balconies to ask, "Is my food here yet?" Parents can relax and watch the fun from a bird's-eye view. Here are our three big takeaways: 1. You're not paying for the room! I can't stress this enough since there are some fair and accurate reviews that the rooms are dated but don't let that dissuade you! 2. Photos truly don’t do it justice - It's truly stunning and such a beautiful place to sit, relax and soak up the surroundings. 3. Put the phones down! The beauty of this place is that it gives you everything you need to truly disconnect to reconnect and relax. If you're wondering about whether or not to make time for the town of Lake George, our take (while likely controversial) is not to waste your time. If you're visiting the Sagamore, stay there. You're paying for a gorgeous resort with so much to do. Don't waste your time with kitschy shops and rip-off arcades. We went to the town for an hour 1/2 that felt like 10 and I couldn't wait to get back. The Sagamore really feels like an oasis. Soak it up! Beautiful and Fun!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

A gorgeous resort, with beautiful lake and mountain views. We enjoyed the outdoor swimming pool, which offered comfortable temperatures while overlooking Lake George and the mountains. There was great poolside service, and food delivered for the children. It was very relaxing. We had diner at Burger, which the kids enjoyed. We were celebrating a child's birthday, so really only had kids' food, which they all enjoyed. We received a special-order cake at our room, and I would highly recommend this enhancement, as it was one of the best cakes I have ever tasted. We stayed in the lodges, with two connecting rooms to accommodate our larger group. There was a tremendous amount of space, a kitchenette, and wonderful views of the walking trail and lake from one room. It was an easy walk to the Rec Center, but we utilized the shuttle to go to the hotel, this was just a short wait once you called. Every staff person we encountered was friendly and welcoming and was available to us for whatever we needed to have the most incredible stay.

Great tennis pro

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

The tennis pro, Bill Trice, is a terrific player and teacher, and a consummate gentleman. highly recommended. The green clay courts are also in great condition, thanks to Bill’s skill and experience in court maintenance. A great experience.
