Reviews for The Eliot Hotel

Nice but not really worth all the $$$.

This is a sweet place. An old school charmer. Quaint comes to mind. As does nostalgic, tradition and expensive. The room (they gave us) was directly across from the elevator which always feels like you're being punished for something. The interiors have an almost Mad Men pre 1968 vibe. It's not luxurious in the contemporary 330 thread count cushy comforter.

Nice hotel. Good location and friendly staff. Give the breakfast a miss.

Lovely hotel. Great location and friendly, helpful staff. We had a suite which was spacious and comfortable except the Queen size bed was a bit small for us. We didn’t make it into the restaurant for the sushi which was a shame. We did have breakfast at the hotel and although the buffet selection looked good, the hot food wasn’t very hot, the plates were cold, the restaurant was cold so everything ended being cold.

Lovely hotel room but with an abysmal bathroom

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

This is a lovely hotel, conveniently located with a very warm and engaging staff. The rooms are beautifully appointed and the restaurant Uni is one of the best in the city. No doubt these are some of the reasons Travel & Leisure called it the best hotel in Boston. Two factors make me demur from that designation, however: (1) Mass Ave and Commonwealth Ave, at which corner the hotel is located, is one of the busiest in the area so, if your room is located on one of the street sides, as ours was, you will have to put up with considerable traffic noise, despite the double glazed windows. (2) More distressingly, ours was one of the most inconvenient bathrooms I have ever experienced in a luxury hotel. The toilet was located two inches from the wall and so low that I practically needed a crane to get off it. The shower was as narrow and confined a space as I have seen. In both cases I was grateful that I had lost weight over the past few years (I am 6 feet and 180 pounds) or I might still be stuck in the shower! I don't know if the other rooms' bathrooms are equally incommodious but guests may want to inspect before taking a room.

Perfect choice location wise

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

Great location, fantastic big bedroom and suite. Doormen were very friendly but the reception staff could have made a bit more effort. We felt that we were the ones initiating greetings every time we entered or left the small lobby - very unlike American service. As an upper mid range Boston hotel, I would recommend it very highly.
