Hotel AKA Back Bay

My sisters and I came to Boston to visit my niece who started college here this fall. We had an amazing experience staying at AKA. My sister has stayed previously and picked to stay here again because she loved it so much. Everyone is so nice and helpful, the hotel is so clean and pretty. We want to shoutout Ryan the Assistant General Manager! He took care of us and made us feel right at home. He went above and beyond to make sure we had a comfortable stay. Staying here next time we visit!

I've traveled a lot and with current travel situation and constant delays and flight changes, most hotel properties have become quite flexible with many last minute changes or cancellations. After all, customer service should be first and foremost and return business depends on the flexibility of the provider. But AKA Back Bay front desk/management has been the most inflexible people I have dealt with. Their tone of voice makes you feel like you're just one of the numbers they are dealing with, it doesn't matter your situation or who you are. I book travel for a lot of other people. Hotel rates in the Copley area are not cheap. With so many choices in the same area, I would definitely look elsewhere. You may probably get my business this time, but probably won't be a repeat business from us.

My experience at Hotel a.k.a. Backbay was exceptional. The location is ideal and the staff provided excellent and highly responsive service from the moment I inquired about a reservation until my departure. I particularly appreciated the convenience of scanning a QR code to access a menu of hotel amenities, including service request, which I used to request additional items. I highly recommend staying at this hotel.

This is at most a 3 star hotel at a 5 star price. Rooms are prison chic. The common spaces are much smaller and cramped than they appear in photos. The valet was rude (and it’s far less expensive to use public parking around the corner) and didn’t help with our bags. The front desk didn’t help with anything and referred us to their app for help. We then used the app and they told us via app that we could walk 1/2 mile away to CVS for anything we needed. Ordered Diet Pepsi from room service and got a small wine glass half full of Diet Pepsi for $9. There was no hair dryer or iron in the room. Room was the temperature of a morgue and we couldn’t adjust it. There are so many better choices in the Back Bay. The convenient location does not justify the cost or the lack of service.

AKA Back Bay is an amazing property in a great location. The team at the hotel took amazing care of my wife and I on an anniversary trip. Every interaction from checkin to check out was efficient and kind. The room service from their hotel restaurant was delicious. We walked and toured through Boston, and this hotel is perfectly situated to be a convenient departure and return point. You will not regret your stay here. It was rainy during our 3 days here, but it didn’t dampen our enthusiasm for this amazing hotel.
