Matild Palace boasts a distinctive ambience representative of its Hungarian heritage, which runs beautifully through its core and is unmistakable from the moment guests step in through the front doors. Built during the Belle Epoque era, in 1902, Matild Palace was developed under the patronage of Her Imperial and Royal Highness Maria Klotild of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha to serve as the social hub of the city. She dreamed of the twin palaces to greet those who enter the bridge as a graceful lady.

What a truly exquisite and memorable hotel. Don't stay at Parisi, Matild is much nicer. Staff were so nice and friendly, the lobby is very elegant, the location is great with views of one bridge (not the chain bridge), and Spago is a very nice restaurant, especially the breakfast. The gym is not huge but spotless with great equipment. You can walk all around the City and feel safe. There is a nice roof top bar as well.

My son had stayed at this hotel a while back and raved about it so I had to stay here when we visited Budapest. So glad. I had put in my suite night upgrades for being a Marriott Platinum member but my request was turned down. So I called Jorge the day before our arrival and he said that particular room wasn't available but he had the junior suite with tons of windows and a gorgeous view of the Elizabeth Bridge. He ended up just upgrading us and not even using my awards. So sweet and so much appreciated, especially because we were coming from the states and were spending more time than usual in room because of jet lag. Checked in with Sophia who helped us find a restaurant and make some reservations. She recommended Monk's Bistro across the street for a last minute late night dinner. It was just ok and expensive. The next am we spoke with Daniel the concierge who helped us get dinner reservations, reservations for a night cruise on the Danube and tell us what to see in this beautiful city. He also got an uber for us to take us to dinner. The next day Ziggy, other concierge helped us with a few things as well. Everyone that worked at the hotel was fantastic-housekeeping, front desk (had an issue with train ticket to vienna and they helped me tremendously), concierge, bartender, wait staff and manager at Spago for breakfast and dinner, front door guys-just about everyone we met and dealt with was fantastic. We travel all around the world and stay in some top notch places and I can always seem to find 1 thing that's a negative. Matilde Palace has none. It's perfect. The hotel reached out and I gave a rave review so heard back from the manager. Nice touch. I'm sure he's the reason the hotel is so special. We had thought about the Four Seasons or the St. Regis when booking but after seeing those, we made the right choice. The Four Seasons was too fancy, uppity. Matilde Palace is a small boutique hotel that feels like home surrounded by family.

Such a beautiful hotel! Pure luxury to stay here. This stay was booked as pre cruise for our Viking cruise. Lovely room, huge bathroom. Great view of the city from our room and the roof top patio. Perfect location to walk to all the sites in Budapest.

It was a top notch experience from staff, room, dining, location, and more. Our corner king suite was lovely! Can’t go wrong here.

Our stay at the Matild Hotel in Budapest was truly exceptional and easily the highlight of our entire trip. Out of the four hotels we stayed at across three countries, this was by far the most luxurious and memorable. The building itself is absolutely stunning—truly an iconic landmark—especially at night when it’s beautifully illuminated. It really adds to the overall experience and sense of place. The rooms were incredible: spacious, elegant, and the best we had throughout our vacation. The bathrooms were equally impressive, with plenty of space and thoughtful touches like heated floors and the Japanese toilets that made a big difference. The location couldn’t be better—right in the heart of the city, close to many major sites and surrounded by great shops and restaurants, making it very convenient to explore. The views of the Danube are fantastic and add even more to the overall experience. The service was outstanding from start to finish, and the breakfast buffet was hands down the best we’ve ever experienced, with a wide variety of high-quality options. I had read another review that said this hotel set a new standard for them, and I completely agree—it truly raised the bar for what we expect from a luxury stay and we travel often to many countries. While the hotel is located in a busier area and you may occasionally hear sirens or street noise, it didn’t impact our stay at all. Overall, this was an amazing experience, and we would absolutely return. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a luxurious and centrally located stay in Budapest.
