About the Hotel

The Cape, a Thompson Hotel, is redefining the coastline of Los Cabos. Open in June 2015, there’s no trace of the traditional Mexican beach resort. Sleek architectural lines eschew Spanish tile, and the rooftop bar channels New York City with a tropical vibe. The hotel is still distinctly Mexico – ceramicist José Noé Suro contributed contemporary art pieces, and hand-painted tile appears throughout the property. Arrive to a room dressed in bespoke Latin American furniture and accessorized with special touches – there’s a tequila welcome gift and a set of binoculars for spying on whales, which frequent the waters surrounding the Baja Peninsula.

Unforgettable Stay at The Cape

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

We just spent four nights at The Cape and it was easily one of the best hotel experiences we’ve ever had. From the moment we checked in, everything felt seamless and special. We were upgraded to a Junior Suite with a plunge pool and incredible views of El Arco — waking up to that view was unforgettable. The team went above and beyond every step of the way. Fernanda and Beatriz from the concierge team made planning effortless, Pablo from F&B made dinner at Manta an amazing experience, and Chef Ari and his team delivered food that blew us away. One night we came back to the most detailed rose-petal room setup we’ve ever seen, and another night we were surprised with a baby onesie and a knitted whale toy for my fiancée — thoughtful touches that made the trip deeply personal. The property itself is stunning: beautiful infinity pools, a rooftop bar that’s perfect for sunset, and breakfast at The Ledge that set the tone for each day. The vibe is luxury without being stuffy — stylish, laid back, and unforgettable. We’re already planning our return. The Cape is the kind of place that makes you not just want to come back to Cabo, but to this exact hotel.

Beautiful location, but won't be returning

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

The Good: • The ocean and beach views are stunning — truly the best we’ve seen in Cabo. • Every single room (even the standard) is nice, spacious and has an ocean view • The staff is consistently friendly and accommodating • Manta, their signature restaurant, is excellent! Highly recommend their tasting menu ($130pp plus drinks) • Rooftop is cool, but they’re willing to close it for private events • If you surf, the beach location is a huge perk The Bad: • The food and drinks are outrageously overpriced, leaving you feeling robbed. $10 each time you ask for water, $28 for loaded fries, $38 for a sushi roll… it feels like you’re at Disney more than Mexico. The food quality doesn’t match the price. • Drinks are weak—to the point of going down like water. • The property is SMALL. With one pool and one hangout area… three nights felt repetitive. • The overall ambiance is dark: low lighting, dark walls, moody design. Stylish and masculine, but not uplifting/tropical/relaxing. • The energy feels muted, almost somber—and doesn’t give happy, vacation vibes. We stay at a lot of 5-star hotels and live in an affluent part of LA, so we’re used to splurging on hotels and food/drink, but this wasn’t it. Overall, it felt like we’d rented an expensive room with a pool—not a true, luxurious resort experience. By day 3, the prices made us feel trapped with gouged prices. I think this place got a lot of media attention and is overhyped, and they raised their prices to take advantage of Americans. For comparison, we stayed at Nobu a few years back (same price) and it was exceptionally better.

Really a stand out visit.

Travel a lot globally. Don't write reviews. This place is outstanding. Any minor glitch was fixed with friendliness. First time here. Only 4 days, 2 in a residence then over the middle also facing the ocean with a plunge pool. Too many of the team to mention as they really work hard and look after you. Michell our concierge however was outstanding. Tip. Don't go here for beach holiday. Equiv of the Maui shore break 😂

We loved our stay. The hotel is beautiful. Highlights include location, natural beauty, amazing balconies, and layout, staff was hard-working, attentive, friendly, and accommodating.

The rooftop is spectacular. The sunsets and views were incredible. Food and drinks were overpriced but good. The beach was not swimmable which is a negative, but clean, private and gorgeous. Fun to watch surfers. They could use some board games, deck of cards, or even a fancy chess board to add to the super fun pool table. Well-positioned elevators, etc. Really well-designed hotel. They've thought of everything. Beautiful gardens and natural surroundings are immaculately kept. Other guests were respectful, pleasant, polite and friendly.

While the concierge is in contact by text and email, they were not entirely helpful. They were unable to help us with dinner reservations. We ended up doing it all ourselves with ease. It seemed as if they were trying to keep us at the hotel for all meals. We were there for a week and had rented a car. Our plan was to explore and eat elsewhere for a few meals. However, I did not sit down and speak with the concierge face to face, so perhaps this would have made a difference.

We were at the hotel on New Year's Eve and they had a rooftop party. Our room was on the 3rd floor but still impacted by the sound and vibration of the base and music. I spoke with the manager and they satisfactorily resolved it. The New Year's eve rooftop party would have been incredible, so my feedback would be to let guests know about the potential for noise before they book - much like what a hotel would do if there was construction. They also brought earplugs to my room immediately after my call to the front desk and they helped immensely. One other thing that I couldn't understand - no tea or coffee in the rooms! This would have made a huge difference to me.

Our experience with Luxury Link was a 10/10.
