About the Hotel

The Cape, a Thompson Hotel, is redefining the coastline of Los Cabos. Open in June 2015, there’s no trace of the traditional Mexican beach resort. Sleek architectural lines eschew Spanish tile, and the rooftop bar channels New York City with a tropical vibe. The hotel is still distinctly Mexico – ceramicist José Noé Suro contributed contemporary art pieces, and hand-painted tile appears throughout the property. Arrive to a room dressed in bespoke Latin American furniture and accessorized with special touches – there’s a tequila welcome gift and a set of binoculars for spying on whales, which frequent the waters surrounding the Baja Peninsula.

Dont book any activities with the concierge.

Dont book any activities with the concierge. They will lie to you and misquote the price. Better stays available at other nicer hotels.

Ridiculously expensive once there and boring!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

Let me start with the positives by saying that the room was beautiful and also extremely clean. We stayed in the partial ocean view king suite. The balcony with the swing was wonderful. The pool and views outstanding. The negatives, too quiet. Too laid back and location is out on a limb. You would have to take cabs to go anywhere. At night it was like The Shining, nobody around only the bar man. Boring. The reason for the low score is because the prices for drinks and food are daylight robbery! When you order a pina colada at the pool they ask you if you want rum in it. They bring a plastic cup with frozen pina colada then add the rum. All cocktails average at $35 each!!! Breakfast buffet is $68 and $48 for kids each! We didn’t get it. Food is average and no way at Michelin star level. Menu is strange and not inviting. A steak over $400 with taxes and fees! Lol If you have money to burn and don’t care about quality drinks or food or having any fun at night this is your place.

The Cape is a true Memory!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

This is a must stay hotel when in Cabo! The staff are super friendly and go above and beyond to make sure that your experiences are memories! When at the pool, ask for Fernanda or Lenny. Two of the best servers I have ever had on vacation! They are kind, friendly and their opinions and knowledge of amazing pool cocktails are elite!

High-End Stay, Low-End Exit Experience

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

Beautiful property with excellent food, amenities, and overall service. However, the departure experience significantly fell short. I was told multiple times that a hospitality room could be used “as long as needed,” with no time limits, which drove my plans for the day. On departure, I was asked to leave early and incorrectly charged for an additional night. While resolved, the process was stressful and avoidable, and the interaction lacked empathy. The team followed up and committed to resolving the underlying issues—yet to be seen. As a frequent Hyatt guest, this overshadowed an otherwise great stay.

Wonderful stay

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

Great location with amazing views, right on the ocean. Plenty of whale watching. Surfers morning until night as well. Staff was professional and friendly. Treated well as a Globalist, with a slight room upgrade. Globalist included breakfast buffet was amazing...one of the best I've had. Will plan to return.

We loved our stay. The hotel is beautiful. Highlights include location, natural beauty, amazing balconies, and layout, staff was hard-working, attentive, friendly, and accommodating.

The rooftop is spectacular. The sunsets and views were incredible. Food and drinks were overpriced but good. The beach was not swimmable which is a negative, but clean, private and gorgeous. Fun to watch surfers. They could use some board games, deck of cards, or even a fancy chess board to add to the super fun pool table. Well-positioned elevators, etc. Really well-designed hotel. They've thought of everything. Beautiful gardens and natural surroundings are immaculately kept. Other guests were respectful, pleasant, polite and friendly.

While the concierge is in contact by text and email, they were not entirely helpful. They were unable to help us with dinner reservations. We ended up doing it all ourselves with ease. It seemed as if they were trying to keep us at the hotel for all meals. We were there for a week and had rented a car. Our plan was to explore and eat elsewhere for a few meals. However, I did not sit down and speak with the concierge face to face, so perhaps this would have made a difference.

We were at the hotel on New Year's Eve and they had a rooftop party. Our room was on the 3rd floor but still impacted by the sound and vibration of the base and music. I spoke with the manager and they satisfactorily resolved it. The New Year's eve rooftop party would have been incredible, so my feedback would be to let guests know about the potential for noise before they book - much like what a hotel would do if there was construction. They also brought earplugs to my room immediately after my call to the front desk and they helped immensely. One other thing that I couldn't understand - no tea or coffee in the rooms! This would have made a huge difference to me.

Our experience with Luxury Link was a 10/10.
