So, I pay for the room on booking with my debit card. My wife (bless her) decides she wants to upgrade and uses her credit card... She has been double billed, post checkout and after the fact etc etc. And, yes emails and messages have been sent, but the normally very responsive crew at Mena House have been...well, unresponsive. Thus we - my wife especially - find ourselves wondering how to get our funds returned rather than fully enjoying the rest of our Egypt trip. Well done Mena House, you ruined the best breakfast view in the world with your shoddy billing practices

On the plus side, the room was spacious, comfortable and spotlessly clean, although a little dated. The room was also serviced well every day. Concierge was also very helpful. Room service was a little mixed both in terms of speed and the quality of food. The last evening meal in particular was cold, bland and, in parts, almost inedible food. My biggest complaint however is with the reception. The area itself is small, clinical and puts one in mind of a prison : heavy security, unsmiling staff and nowhere comfortable to sit. I had the dubious pleasure of dealing with two separate young female staff. Both need to go on a training course in customer service or be relieved of their duties: both unwelcoming and talked down to me. In particular whilst settling my bill, I was not asked if I had a pleasant stay and the receptionist also served someone before me who barged in whilst I queued patiently. She had a very stern manner throughout. I was very surprised that when questioning the bill - in the hotels favour - I was given a very abrupt and defensive response. In summary, not the service I expect of a 5 star hotel or as a “valued Marriott Gold Elite member”

Outstanding localisation !! Best place to wake up front of the pyramids and see the sun set on them. Unforgettable conditions. Restaurants are great, services on top. The staff is so dedicated and kind has made our stay so special. We will be back for sure.

View is nothing short of spectacular and go ahead and pay for full pyramid view room. The hotel grounds are lovely. Service just OK, not always with a smile, especially the woman doing coffee in the bar in the AM. An oasis of cleanliness in dirty Cairo. Not a nice area to walk around. I would recommend for pyramid tourists to stay here. And then leave Cairo and go to Luxor which is much nicer. Some things did not work in the room and were broken. Not a big deal but they need to keep investing in the property.

Very nice hotel with excellent food service and views. It is also an event center almost every night. If you want EXTREMELY loud ear splitting music rattling the windows throughout the facility with strobe lights and all flashing, this is your place. If you want to sleep, find another place.
