Terrible noise treatment
Many of their rooms are adjoining with the next room over, meaning they have doors to possibly connect with the room next door. That makes it so you can LITERALLY HEAR EVERY LITTLE NOISE from the next room. From people’s alarms in the morning, to what tiktoks they are watching before bed or what they are talking about on their phone calls out loud. There is NO SOUND TREATMENT. Be ready to sleep with noise cancelling headphones or at least a pair of ear plugs. Would give zero stars if I could

I recently stayed at the The Royal Sonesta Boston from April 12–17, and I can honestly say it was one of the most welcoming hotel experiences I’ve ever had. From the moment I arrived, everything about the hotel was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained—but what truly made this stay stand out was the exceptional service. In particular, Calvin, who works evenings and nights, went above and beyond in every possible way. He didn’t just do his job—he made us feel like we were part of the family. Calvin was consistently kind, attentive, and genuinely caring. Whether it was checking in on us, making sure we had everything we needed, or simply taking the time to have a friendly conversation, he created an atmosphere that felt like home. It’s rare to come across someone who takes such pride in making guests feel valued, and it did not go unnoticed. Because of Calvin and the overall experience, I would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the Cambridge/Boston area. It’s the people who make a place memorable—and Calvin truly made this stay special

Good value for money with view over the Charles river
Well: probably the rooms are not the prettiest thinkable in world (some wear and tear, fairly dark), but I was served with a nice one this time: especially liked the spacious desk to work at, zero neighbour noise, good bed: special mention deserves the staff at reception desk that was as friendly as always (no connected rooms...:THANK YOU) and housekeeping on the third floor: the (hispanic) lady made my day every morning with her great smile and super attitude! Location is second to none. Curious what the refurbished ART bar will look like (will see in June). This time I had btw a pasta in their restaurant which was actually very, very good: been a while since I had such good Italian ragout pasta. So it will remain one of my Boston favourites.

Calvin Cherry, front desk manager, was the most kind and professional employee that I had ever encountered in all of my many travels both domestic and international. Great first impression at this hotel. Check-in was smooth, and Kerwin at the front desk was especially polite and helpful. He made the whole experience welcoming—really appreciated!
