Fantastic hotel but pricey food.
This is a fabulous hotel with impeccable service from arrival to departure. The hotel enjoys an enviable location in the middle of the east-facing hotel zone with a lovely stretch of "private" beach that is cleaned of sargassum several times a day. The beach, unlike those on the north side of the hotel zone, gets some nice waves too and is not crowded at all. The rooms have been nicely updated; the public areas of the hotel, which opened in 1993 as the Ritz Carlton, feel a bit dated in terms of style but has been kept up really well. The gym served my purposes well, with about 20 treadmills, stairmasters, and exercise bikes, plus a good amount of free wights and lifecycle machines. The best part of this hotel, as other reviewers have noted, as that there are lots of beach chairs, both around the pool and on the beach, so that there is no need to rush down at 7 am to secure your spot. This alone is worth the price! Speaking of price, it is worth noting that the food and drinks at the hotel are really expensive. The breakfast buffet costs about $50/day. The food is good and there is pretty good variety, but still... Cocktails cost about $20 each, ceviche out by the pool will run you $25-30, and grilled fish was about $40. Add tax and tip to all of the above. You definitely pay for the convenience! We went out for dinner a couple of times: there are some good seafood restaurants within a 10-minute walk. Overall, though, a great experience, especially in one of the ocean-facing rooms with balconies where you can enjoy your morning coffee and listen to the waves at night. Super relaxing and highly recommended.

No control over behavior in dining room
Fantastic experience and recommend that you go. I had a great time, service and people are really the best. Unfortunately I had a bad experience in breakfast on last day. The hotel was taken over by Jewish convention. I was seated next to some terrible people with 3 2 year olds screaming and standing in chairs, then proceeded to circle the table screaming. The parents never corrected them and staff did nothing to correct. This is not acceptable , I had just spent 7,000 at the hotel and was very disappointed
