Still Dreaming of Amangiri - A Desert Sanctuary Like No Other!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 days ago

After traveling extensively throughout the United States and internationally — and experiencing some of the most celebrated luxury properties in the world — very few places have left a lasting imprint on me the way Amangiri has. After two separate stays (June 2024 and September 2025), I can confidently say this is not just one of the best resorts in the United States… it is one of the most extraordinary hospitality experiences I have ever had. We stayed in the Desert Pool Suite during both visits, and it truly feels like having your own private sanctuary carved into the desert. The private pool is not just a beautiful feature — it becomes essential during the summer heat and transforms into a serene oasis as the sun begins to set over the mesas. The outdoor lounge area offers a completely unobstructed view of the landscape, where the vastness and stillness of the desert feel almost surreal. And the sky deck… it is pure magic. Stargazing here feels like stepping into another world, with a blanket of stars so vivid and endless that it is impossible not to pause and simply exist in the moment. What truly elevates Amangiri is the service. Luxury is often defined by attention to detail, but here it feels almost intuitive. Every interaction — in-room service, poolside care, spa hospitality, and dining — is handled with a level of warmth, grace, and anticipation that feels effortless and deeply personal without ever being intrusive. It is the rare kind of service that quietly elevates every moment of your stay. The experiences offered at the property are equally unforgettable and deeply connected to the surrounding land. The slot canyon tour with a Navajo guide was breathtaking and meaningful, offering cultural depth and storytelling that made the landscape feel alive with history. The Via Ferrata courses were exhilarating while still feeling incredibly safe and thoughtfully designed, allowing us to interact with the dramatic terrain in a way that felt both adventurous and intimate. Horseback riding through the desert felt cinematic and peaceful at the same time, and the extensive hiking trails allowed us to fully immerse ourselves in the quiet beauty of the environment. The spa deserves its own recognition as a destination within the destination. Every treatment felt grounding, restorative, and perfectly aligned with the calming energy that defines Amangiri. It is one of the few places where relaxation feels immediate and deeply immersive. The culinary experience is another highlight that remains vivid in my memory long after returning home. I still dream about the afternoon prickly pear margarita — refreshing, beautifully balanced, and perfectly tied to the desert setting. And waking up to their pancakes each morning became one of those simple yet unforgettable travel rituals that defines a truly exceptional stay. Every meal felt thoughtful, seasonal, and deeply connected to the region. What makes Amangiri so special — and what continues to draw us back — is the feeling it creates. It encourages stillness, connection, and presence in a way that is incredibly rare in modern travel. It is a place where time feels slower, conversations feel deeper, and the surrounding landscape quietly becomes part of the experience. Amangiri is not simply a hotel stay. It is a retreat, a sensory experience, and a memory that lingers long after departure. Few destinations in the world manage to feel both transformative and timeless. Amangiri is absolutely one of them, and it remains a place we already dream about returning to again!

I slept for 24 hours at Amangiri, and it was the most restorative experience of my life. Nestled among stunning desert landscapes, the resort feels like another world—quiet, serene, and timeless. Every detail, from the architecture blending into the canyon walls to the peaceful atmosphere, invites you to fully relax. Amangiri isn’t just a hotel, it’s a sanctuary where time stands still.

Less than Aman quality

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 months ago

Aman resorts are generally the best of the best, but this one is just not the best of what Aman has to offer, thus 4 stars. Arrival was less than stellar, GPS does not direct one to the hotel so when you call the staff should know this and be able to direct you from the GPS location (they couldn't). The bellman took us to the front desk where we couldn't get the room we wanted and the front desk woman was rude about it. I said I would wait outside because we had a dog and to come get me when the room was ready, they never did and it was swelting hot there in summer. This is not normal Aman service. Additionally, the patio outside our room was full of cigarette butts, which the cleaning staff should've attended to when cleaning the room. Inside the room itself and the other resort staff was lovely, what was to be expected when one is paying $445 hour to stay at this resort. Needeless-to-say, the local is stunning, the food delicious and worth the visit if you can afford it.

Wonderful

Truly an unparalleled experience. To be honest I came in skeptical ready to be underwhelmed and I found instead that the staff and facilities exceeded my expectations in every way. I am a convert and am already planning another stay within the aman resort family.

The best stay & experience in the US NO QUESTION

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 8 months ago

I went here with my mother recently for two nights and this place was definition of serene, private, and peaceful. Everything is choreographed behind you that when you are ready to do anything, there is an abundance of staff ready to accomplish your goals and whether it be dining, excursion, spa, or anything else, you can pretty much do anything here on their truly vast property or they have exclusive suppliers and vendors that can achieve anything you really want off property too. if you can absorb the price point, it is worth every penny.
