Enjoyed the stay, but pass on rebooking.

The Good... first impressions when we walked into the lobby was that this hotel was lively with visitors and very well decorated. It was clean and smelled nice. The room and hallways also smelled nice and we're very clean. We had a very quiet visit all though construction is going right outside the window. We loved that it was walkable with resturants within a 3 - 15 min walk down the Monon. It was easy to step out and grab food without jumping in the car. The rooms were well decorated and the couch very comfortable. The staff was also polite and quick with service. My partner enjoyed the gym as well. The Okay... The resturant was very cute. It's right off the Monon as well. It was comfortable and the staff was present. However, service was not as expected. When our food came out you could tell it had been sitting awhile. It was luke warm and the server never refilled our drinks and only checked on us if we got her attention. The Must Do Better... The hotel boasts of attention to detail however, as a well traveled customer I was very disappointed in the comfort of the bed. The sheets were hard, scratchy, and stiff. The pillows were also scratchy. The towels were super hard and stiff as well. None of the linens were plush or soft. The bed was super uncomfortable. We couldn't put our finger on why, however by day 2 both our bodies were sore and we were happy to get back to our own bed. I can maybe count only 2 of 3 times where I had an uncomfortable bed, however, it was never at a luxury hotel. The Bad... trying to watch a movie is terrible. You have to download an app from one of your devices and cast it to the TV. It's a horrible inconvenience, even for a tech savvy person such as myself. The hotel needs to rethink how visitors can watch shows on their favorite apps instead of casting everything. That was absolutely the most annoying thing. Then the casting app I chose ended up costing after 3 days so I had to cancel it after our stay. Just put the apps on the TVs and let people use their own accounts to watch it. Overall the stay was nice and we enjoyed ourselves. However, for the price point, I prefer to feel luxury, and not just see it. I recommend if you don't mind your linens and beds feeling like a low budget hotel. We have decided we won't be coming back, despite all the good because we value a good night sleep.

Needs improvement

I hope the following is helpful. Overall we enjoyed our stay but a little disappointed still the same. Room was not serviced between when I left at 10am and returned at 4:30, I did not have the placard outside the door although the front desk said I did. They also didn’t know if they were able to service room. I was told, housekeeping “may have gone for the day”. When I asked for towel replacement the desk said they would handle it. Received a call a few minutes later to “make sure I was the one who called in the request. When housekeeping arrived, she spoke no English and could not understand requests. I left the room while she serviced. Make up cloth was not replenished. Shower not attended to by evidence of used washcloth still present. Coffee bar was not replenished. Used coffee cup not removed. Tissues had gotten to the point where the indicator showed it was very close to needing replacement, I ran out of tissues. Restaurant: Had breakfast twice in restaurant. Paxton was server both times. Not very attentive. Had to be asked twice for things. Had Carmichael breakfast and asked for croissants to be heated for mom and I. Warm when it got to table and quickly hardened and not able to be finished. Tables should have salt, pepper and sugar so guests do not have to ask or wait while food/coffee gets cold which happened to us. At dinner crab cake selection was undercooked and not warm for both mother or I. Staff: Very nice and accommodating but bell hop and “bell hop “ provided by front desk agent called at check out (both young men) did not know area well enough to advise my elderly parents, who do not google well on their cell phones, where they could go locally to pick up pharmacy items or grab a quick breakfast on their way out of town. One young man said he had a list at the front desk. These things should be known or accessible on their person. Meanwhile there is a Kroger and Walgreens a mile or so down the road which would have more than sufficed for the needs when we arrived. Room was very comfortable. I must have missed a plug an available next to the bed, I could not locate one close enough. Thank you for your time and attention. I do expect a little more from Autograph properties and do hope these details are addressed for future guests.

Birthday Weekend Getaway!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 months ago

Another great stay at the Carmichael! We come here every year for a staycation for my birthday — it's one of my favorite weekends of the year. Everyone is always so kind and helpful and goes over the top to make our stay lovely. Jacobi and the other Valet guys are amazing, too! ◡̈
