Reviews for Hotel Las Islas

Overpriced

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

Strange place. Staff very friendly, expensive rooms so you think you will get a little more than you do. Resort a bit run down. Rooms are good and well equipped. Bikes available to get round island resort. Meals okay - we did have very slow service at supper and this was recognised by the hotel. Can arrange trips - snorkelling, diving etc.

Good but not worth the price point

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

Overall for the cost, I’ve stayed in better places that have offered a higher level of service for the cost. We spent three days here, which was enough; basic dining menu. Restaurant staff always super helpful, not so great with front desk, she didn’t speak English so we had to basically just sign the contract for checking out and then google translate items in the cab to the airport. While you can argue that I should be able to speak Spanish we did learn some but there was a real lack of having English speakers on the main touch points like front desk and room service etc. Outdoor furnishings in Bungalow 27 were dirty on arrival, had to self clean these daily. The terrace could have done with a good power wash my feet were black. The drawers were crawling with ants. The sun shade was broken so couldn’t wind down as a result had to constantly move the sun beds to try and capture some sun. For me it just lacked the little things for this price point. Sea view room with pool: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Service: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Cleanliness: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Dining options: ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Glamping but beautiful spot

It took us a couple of days to settle into this resort. For the price we expected high end. This resort feels like the General Manager has been on holiday for 3 months and the staff are muddling through. The bedroom as though we were glamping at night. Staff are excellent, attentive and kind, but the resort itself looks shabby, uncared for and unmaintained, particularly the grounds. Menus for lunch are pretty similar to those for dinner and these do not change. So food gets a bit dull and repetitive. That said, the chef did knock us up a local dish when we asked, and he could not have been more accommodating and professional and produced a wonderful dinner. Breakfasts are excellent and resort is deeply relaxing. Be mindful of service charge of 10% on everything as when we checked with all serving staff they said they didn't get this .....

Quirky Resort with Unusual, Fun Rooms

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 months ago

Las Islas is a neat place but not going to be for everyone and has some ups and downs. Rooms are either treehouses with a deck and hot tub or ground level with a pool. Avoid those directly above the beach. All are set among the mangrove forest with lots of wooden paths and golf cart roads connecting everything. The paths can be frustrating, mainly because the signs are sometimes not there, unclear, or even wrong. Rooms all feel very private. Treehouse steps have lighting at night. If you’re looking for very high end, Four Seasons style equality and service, you’re in the wrong place. If you want a unique and relaxing stay, notwithstanding some flaws, you’ll probably enjoy. The service is generally trying and well meaning. They do a fine job but the place isn’t organized at quite a high luxury level. We really enjoyed the deck area around our treehouse complete with chaises as well as a table and chairs. The hammocks at ground level were also fun. I even used the one in the room for some cooler afternoon relaxing. It’s a unique and fun place to stay. The beach is relatively narrow but nice. Lunch restaurant and bar are located there. The dinner restaurant is at the clubhouse. The food is mediocre and vastly overpriced by Colombian standards but won’t shock any American accustomed to eating out. Service was kind and the space is inviting. Bar floor above the restaurant appears open for a bit before sunset and is a good place to enjoy it. Staff are happy to offer you a golf cart ride if they are free and see you. They smartly have a bunch lined up after dinner but no such luck after breakfasts. The A/C is the room works surprisingly well, especially at night around the bed. We oddly saw no bugs but the rooms are not really sealed well, so don’t be surprised if some make it in. Bathroom isn’t covered by the A/C. One of our bathroom sinks leaked around the bathroom door. Shower worked well and all was spacious. We did a sea transfer here from Cartagena on a day when the sea was rough. It was quite a bit more adventurous than we would’ve liked. Our small boat listed quite substantially, and you really had to hold on tight to avoid tumbling over. We all got soaked, though it was nice that they provided towels to protect us. Felt a bit like the SS Minnow on Gilligan’s Island. Glad we are taking the land route back. Check out took a long time as they had to send someone to confirm the minibar. Additionally, watch out for the extra security charge. This is the second time this has happened to us in Columbia and, once again, they removed it immediately when asked. The resort has an app but it can be frustrating and glitchy. Doesn’t seem a great way to make requests. We’re happy we ended our Colombia trip here.

Very unique and fun

This place is so unique. Me and my husband loved staying here. The staff was super nice. Jairo at the front desk was so helpful and informative. He’s amazing at what he does. We also loved going over to the private island and spent a lot of time over there. Overall we would love to go back one day.
