This hotel was recommended by my travel agent for our one-night stay on this part of the Cape. We had high expectations based on reviews and the fact that the hotel is part of Virtuoso's luxury network. The location of the hotel is beautiful, as are the grounds and the exteriors of the buildings. The front porch and lobby area are charming and the main dining room, with its water view, is lovely. However, our room was a serious disappointment. We were put in a "cottage" called the Harbor House. It appeared to be a remodeled apartment building. The Harbor House "lobby" was furnished with a dirty and unattractive plaid rug, and a sad, saggy beige couch. Our room had a deck and an ocean view, but once on the deck, you can see directly into the room next door as there is no privacy screening. The bathroom was small and has not been updated, with old plumbing fixtures, and a single sink. The showerhead either runs full blast, filling the bottom of the tub so that you can enjoy standing in inches of water, or it is turned off. We paid for an "ocean view" and that is what we got, although our stays in other Virtuoso hotels on this trip included a room upgrade, which Chatham Bars Inn did not offer, although the hotel was clearly not fully booked. Perhaps there are better, higher-quality rooms on this property that actually align with luxury travelers' expectations, but I would approach booking at this hotel with a great deal of caution.

Cannot say enough great things about this inn. Truly one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever stayed! Cottage suite was newly renovated and very spacious. Great to share, as the bathroom is between the master and living room (both doors can be closed for privacy and still access the bathroom). Grounds are spectacular, service wonderful. Love the perk of complimentary valet to and from restaurants in town!

Our 4th mini getaway to Chatham Bars did not disappoint us in any way. We usually go in February when costs are a bit less, but wanted to see CBI in bloom. We watched the transformation of winter to spring right before our eyes. We knew the resort would have limited activities opened this early in May, but what we experienced was no less than perfect! The staff, maintenance, gardeners, housekeepers were all so polite, engaging and made us feel like we had come back home.

Property was exceptional, staff was amazing. Classic New England charm with an easy walk to town. We unfortunately ended up with a sad room in the main building with a horrible view of the air conditioning units on the roof. Putting that aside, the stay was comfortable and top level. Again, for what we paid, I thought every room would be exceptional, but we missed out I guess.
