21c Museum Hotel Chicago

We had a lovely time staying at the 21c museum hotel! With the help of the concierge Fatima, we enjoyed our stay to the absolute fullest! This was a birthday trip and Fatima was so gracious enough to upgrade our room to a suite and on a higher floor!

Fatima… one of the most conscientious, kind, accommodating and helpful hotel customer service specialist I have ever dealt with. I have traveled to countless cities and countries but she made her mark! Every single time I come to Chicago - I will be staying HERE!

Hotel has a great central location with friendly helpful staff. Room was very clean and well equipped. However, fittings in the room / en-suite, which were arranged for people with disabilities (not sure if this is standard for all rooms), were very low to the ground. Door to the en-suite, which was barn style siding, was stiff and difficult to move, and the wardrobe was difficult to access and had limited space. The hotel is located close to the hospital quarter and noise from emergency vehicles (and construction works during our stay) can be annoying at night. Breakfast, which is provided in the adjoining (separate) restaurant, is good but limited for those, like me, seeking a gluten free option. A feature of 21C hotels is the integrated art museum, which was an unexpected and enjoyable feature during our stay.

There seems to be a communication breakdown between the front desk and the rest of the staff. On a business trip, I called for an iron 4x between 1030am and 1230pm and was told they'd have one right up. It never arrived and I went out in my robe (comfortable and luxurious robes btw) and asked room service for one in their office. I felt bad about it but idk why it took 2 hours to not get an iron. I also called for a later check out time and room service walked in before my check out time lol, it seems like they dont communicate to room service? I also left my airpods in my room and I can see on my FindMy that theyre still in my room--they told me they'd look but I feel like the communication between the front desk and room service is pretty bad. The restaurant was great and quick and responsive. I otherwise had a great stay. I'm worried I'll never see my airpods again and those are expensive! I feel like it's gonna be like the iron again, shouting into the front desk void. Lol help i need my airpods

Checked in today at museum 21c for the first time and wow. What a refreshing experience. Greetings and polite interactions immediately and throughout the rest of the day with Alyssa, Kenia and Anthony. Rooms are clean, bigger than expected and much better than the last 6 hotels I’ve stayed in over the last 4 years. I will definitely return!
