Fairmont Chicago’s new design catapulted it to the top of hotel options in The Loop, Chicago’s business and theater district that’s home to many of the city’s cultural attractions. Past an opulent gold-hued lobby awaits a collection of guest rooms dressed in a natural color palette of cream, chocolate and mossy green highlighted by a bold floral print from Warwick Orme. Marble baths come with a separate rainfall shower and soaking tub, and for further relaxation, the spa offers couples’ soaks in a sumptuous suite.

I believed in the Fairmont brand name but this hotel does not live up to the name. First off the hotel needs a lot of work on the rooms inside. Wallpaper is coming off, shades struggle to move and it just looks very outdated. Our light in the bathroom also went out on the first day and we spent several hours using the bathroom in the dark and showering in the dark. The knob on the faucet sink the bathroom also just came off. The safe wasn't working. The pillows felt extra worn and too soft. I requested an extra hard pillow and they said they did not have. Which is didn't fight because I know thats not a given. When I simply requested one extra pillow then so I can double up I was informed there were no extra pillows in the entire hotel whatsoever. When you pay the price tag of the Fairmont you expect basic amenities such as being able to request an extra pillow. This is also not to mention, the restaurant downstairs "Toro" is one I would avoid. Not only was the service subpar, there was hair in my food. We understand when a place is understaffed there can be longer wait times but "Ruben", our server, took care of other people who came in well after us, before us. Our food came out cold which only leads me to believe it was waiting in the back for some time. Then when my food was eventually served after beginning to eat I noticed a hair in my food and tried to get Ruben's attention to no avail for 20 minutes. by this point we just wanted to get out of this place as soon as possible. We sat down at 7:45 AM with 2 other couples in the restaurant. We did not get our food until around 8:45 AM and we could not pay our check to leave until 9:35 AM. One of the worst dining experiences at a Fairmont ive ever had. Avoid this place! We will not be staying here again.

Average hotel with comfy bed and clean so it does the job . Location is great for exploring Chicago . Probably would return again if ever here again. Handy for the park and magnificent mile . Lots of shops and eateries nearby.

This was our 7th stay at the Fairmount Chicago. Our last stay was 2023. Since that time, the Gold Room lounge and Gold level rooms were renovated. That's where we stay. Check-in was weird. The kids at the front desk - and they are very young - sent us up the Gold Lounge to get our room keys. However, after talking to Gabriel, the lounge conceriege, he put our two rooms next to each other. That was helpful. The renovated rooms are very nice. Roomy, great bed, sitting area, clean, spacious bathroom. Nespresso coffee maker. Two mini-fridges. One stocked with sodas and booze. One for the guest's use. Extras like boxes of candies. There isn't a price list for the mini-fridge items and the candies. They are not free. The room could use a full length mirror. The lounge is great, comfortable and plenty of room. Staff is friendly, really nice. Food is consistently excellent. The hotel is within easy walking distance of Millennium Park, The Art Institute, The Loop and excellent restaurants. We felt safe wadering around.

Hotel is outdated, lobby feels dark and dingy. Check-in sub par - agent did not seem excited or happy guests were arriving. She may have been newer as she had to get assistance from a co-worker when I requested to route incidentals to a separate folio the following day. I advised of a smoking concern after my second night (guests next door were smoking weed and then cigarettes). I could smell the smoke when I was taking a shower it was that strong. Took someone over 30 minutes to address the issue at my room - I called twice. The engineer who came WAS THE SWEETEST though and did confirm that there was definitely a stench! There was no proactiveness to correct the situation. I had to provide solutions such as requesting a room change if the guests next door were a longer stay like me (I was there for 5 nights). I preferred not to move since I unpacked everything. They confirmed that the guests were leaving that day so I went ahead and started my day. Only to come back in the mid-afternoon and my room had yet to be serviced. I had to call to request and thought maybe they thought I wanted to room move still? Yet no one ever called to check in or to ask if I wanted to do so. Just no closing of the loop. Overall, just an old hotel with lack of follow-up and care. I wish I had stayed at the Swissotel down the street as many people were raving about it and they are riverfront vs. the Fairmont which is about a block behind. Gym was also teeny tiny, but had the basics. Had dinner at Toro Bar which we really enjoyed. However, drinks at the bar were a bit awkward - there is 1 bartender who never seemed happy to be there and was complaining about a co-worker not preparing his station properly the first day I went. Was looking forward to a fun girlsʻ trip, but ended up being slightly embarrassed about the hotel I selected. I don't have any pictures to contribute as there was nothing worth taking a picture of really. The bellman or greeter during my stay was SOOOOO friendly and always welcomed me back home which was lovely. I also had a great interaction with the coffee bar gentleman who was really helpful and prepared a wonderful latte.

Business hotel. I had a room with a partial view of the lake which was lovely. A real bathtub! But the shower stall was tiny with no water pressure and the AC barely worked. Staff in the restaurant was very nice and the food there pretty good for a hotel. There are many options in DT Chicago so there just have to be better options
