Pendry Chicago

We had a lovely stay at Pendry Chicago. Muriel is amazing - she ensured we had a memorable first stay at the Pendry and is very professional. She is what I consider one of the best examples of a true hospitality specialist. Thanks to all the staff for their kind attention. The hotel is on a busy area of Michigan Ave, so be prepared for sounds of the city. Despite this, we still got a good night's sleep in our corner room with beautiful views! It's a short walk away from many attractions, and if you are adventurous, it is close to the Loop CTA. Although we didn't stay long enough to enjoy all the amenities, the room was clean and spacious and felt luxury. We will definitely consider Pendry Chicago for a future stay.

I recommend reading through the post, but there's an old the tldr version: Cons: - terribly noisy - very bad reception service - room unmaintained - expensive Pros: - the building has an old feeling vibe Wow, what bitter experience we just had. To get this story right I'll have to go back, before we arrived. We scheduled this hotel as the grand finale to a rather intense Chicago stay. We wanted our last days, for an anniversary vacation, to be in a beautiful hotel, located in a remarkable area. On paper, the Pendry hotel checks all the boxes, but the truth is very far from it. First of all, the hotel has not answered any of the numerous emails we sent prior to our arrival. Only after searching TripAdvisor for a direct manager email we got a response. Upon arrival we were told that our room was upgraded and got a lovely room - high floor, living room view... but unfortunately, the room had poor maintenance. For example, the bedroom AC was extremely loud, the outlets near the bed didn't function properly, the heated floor in the bathroom didn't work at all, the safe was barely functioning etc. But hey, this is a fancy hotel, of course they should be able to handle such malfunctions... they have their own unique way of dealing with this, they send a mechanic, don't let you know, and after a day say that "there was nothing to tell"... eh? They also have a new way of catering to requests, such as "may i have an extra blanket?" by ignoring and doing nothing for hours, util you've had enough and had to yell at the manager. Maybe I am weird this way, but I can't stand the "we don't give a damn about you, just pay" attitude. I must note Muriel and Natalie from the reception, who made this stay awful by ignoring and misleading us, causing me to waste valuable time arguing and constant following up on them. The doormen and bellboys were a delight, that's really the only good thing I can tell about the staff. About the location, this hotel has almost no insolation, and it is located on two highways so you get constant noise throughout the day and night, pretty much like sleeping outside. My wife couldn't sleep for more than a couple of hours a night, before being woken up by a motorcycle, siren and so on. While the view is nice, there are condo buildings all around you, so you can't really keep the shades open as it is extremely not private. Moreover, this is an old building, and the elevators show this. When planning to go outside, plan ahead 5-10 minutes waiting for an elevator. Breakfast and room service is decent, as the the adjoint restaurant is decent, though I found breakfast a bit too fatty and lacks variety. In conclusion, there are better options out there for this kind of price rate. Can't recommend this hotel.

First time staying at the Pendry. Had an excellent experience from checking in/out guest services and concierge. All were perfectly helpful and intentional in ensuring a great stay.

Great hotel. I feel spoiled now and can’t come back to Chicago without staying at the Pendry. The ambiance is great. I also used their fitness room and it is such a step up from others. We will be back.

Perfect stay at The Pendry! From the moment we arrived, we were warmly greeted by the doorman and assisted to the front desk. The young lady who checked us in was friendly, helpful, and provided all the information we needed for a comfortable stay. We were surprised with a welcome gift after check in. The included breakfast at the café was absolutely delightful. The hostess, servers, and baristas were consistently pleasant and welcoming, always greeting us with a smile. Our in-room dining was delivered promptly, and the staff member who brought it to us was both gracious and professional. Our room was spacious, comfortable, and well maintained. We were also impressed by the housekeeping team, who not only kept everything spotless but also greeted us warmly whenever we passed by. Every staff member created a superb experience. Their kindness and professionalism truly set Pendry apart.
