Pendry Chicago

We always really enjoy staying at the Pendry. Normally we like to try different hotels in different cities, but when we come to Chicago we *always* stay at the Pendry... there's no place else quite like it. For one thing, the Carbide & Carbide Building is imo the most beautiful historic building in Chicago. For another, the staff are always competent, friendly, welcoming and informative. Had a longish chat with the bellhop Perry this time about some of Chicago's fascinating history. Also, Muriel took care of a birthday surprise for me... thank you, that really helped made this stay special. And finally.. there are sometimes extra incentives and upgrades... moreso this time than ever before in fact.

Hotel location is great. Food in the lobby is actually really good (don’t skip their truffle fries!) and rooms are decent. Skip room service if the hotel looks busy. They were almost an hour late with our breakfast and it arrived cold. I had to call down to front desk - first time telling me that they know nothing about room service so I have to call room service. When i explained i tried and no one was picking up her answer was “well, you’ll just have to wait”. i called them the second time and front desk said “oh we’re really busy today so we’re backed up”. For a hotel of this caliber, they need to proactively call the guest and inform them that the breakfast will be a hour late and give me other options like canceling and dining downstairs!!! And the didn’t even offer any other compensation for it. The espresso machine in the room was broken and again, I had to call multiple times to get someone to replace it. Then they only brought decaf pods, even though they asked me what kind of coffee pods they could send up and i said dark roast. Overall the customer service could use some improvement but the location is great and it’s a nice property. I used an Am Ex hotel credit for the stay- but for the quality of service, I would not pay cash. Not worth it.

The communication and service at The Pendry is unmatched. The location, dining, and room were wonderful. We can't recommend this luxury hotel enough!!

We had a great stay at the Pendry Chicago. The building is beautiful. The room (two queen beds) was small but very nice and clean, and the beds were extremely comfortable. Breakfast was excellent every morning. Dolapo was awesome and truly went above and beyond. The hotel also gave our son a stuffed animal, which was a very thoughtful touch. The location was perfect and within walking distance to many attractions, stores, and restaurants. We’d happily stay here again.
