Brought our family downtown for magical evening at the Peninsula Hotel. The roof top ice-skating and the indoor swimming pool were fabulous. The worst service experience we had last night at the hotel was when we called the concierge to see if they could get us into an Italian restaurant. Their response was “it’s Saturday night. Where do you think I can get you in…” When you’re spending over $1,000 a night for a room and somebody tells you; “Sorry Charlie”, it makes you wonder what you’re paying the extra up charge for! We also waited over 30 minutes to get someone to take our order in the Hotel’s Z bar… I will say that the room was excellent and we did have room service last night “ dessert “ as well as this morning breakfast and they both were very good. Next time we’ll go to the Langham Hotel, which is partnering with with the Art Institute of Chicago and actually has a concierge program for families. Happy Holidays. Best regards, Jim Curley

Our stay at The Peninsula was nothing short of extraordinary. We arrived during Thanksgiving, and the hotel’s décor was breathtaking—warm, elegant, and truly festive. What amazed us even more was that by the next morning, the entire property had been transformed for Christmas. The decorations were stunning, every detail thoughtfully placed, creating an atmosphere that felt magical. Our check-in experience with Floyd set the tone for the entire stay. He was incredibly helpful, gracious, and welcoming. He offered his condolences about our cancelled flight and made sure we were taken care of, giving us a beautiful room and treating us with genuine kindness. Floyd was spectacular and left a lasting impression. Before dinner, the hotel hosted a lovely tea time where children could take photos with Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus. Both of them were wonderful, spending real time with the kids and making them feel special. It was clear they cared deeply about creating a memorable experience. In the lobby, there was also a little “candy shop” where kids could pick out treats at no cost—another thoughtful touch. All of this took place with live violin music in the background, adding elegance to an already perfect atmosphere. Again, the attention to detail was immaculate. Dinner was exceptional. We ordered the pork belly “pyramid,” which was not only beautifully presented but incredibly flavorful, and of course we enjoyed the crab Rangoons. Our server, a young Thai gentleman whose name we unfortunately can’t recall was phenomenal. He was friendly, attentive, and made us feel truly welcomed. We connected with him immediately, and he elevated our dining experience in a way we won’t forget. I truly wish I could remember his name because he deserves recognition. Lastly, I want to express our gratitude to Fred, the gentleman who assisted us at the entrance and helped with our bags. His professionalism and kindness were outstanding and contributed to the flawless service we experienced throughout our stay. This was my first time in Chicago for work, and The Peninsula has set the bar incredibly high. Thanks to the exceptional team from Floyd, to our wonderful server, to Fred I’m already looking forward to returning

It’s a perfectly fine luxury hotel. But not special. Several maintenance issues - broken phones, flickering lights. Room service food quality is quite low. Rooms are nice though and not too worn. Acceptable for price point but wouldn’t be seeking it out at all.

Just back from a one night get away in Chicago and we elected to stay at the Peninsula for our first time. The entire experience was terrific! The room was a large double with lots of soft seating, quite and comfortable. The staff was pleasant and personal. We were not impressed with the roof-top bar as the decor and loud music seemed out of step with the guest. We enjoyed a quite dinner in the lobby dining area. The hotel is impressive, I wish they would bring back the old bar!
