The Windy City has long been home to Italian and Irish Americans, but there is now a French revolution underway at 20 East Chestnut - where Sofitel Chicago Water Tower resides. This 32-story downtown delight boasts a sleek design with equally modern interiors. Rooms take on a minimalist feel without sacrificing noted amenities. It is pure pleasure with designer furnishings, oversize marble baths, and cityscape views. The lobby, illuminated by the soft glow of candles, boasts relaxing conversational nooks, intriguing artwork and the aroma of fresh flowers.

There are "happy to help" hotel employees greeting you at the front door. At registration we were asked if we wanted an upgraded room. We were staying for 5 days, so we took the offer. It was a little more expensive, but the rooms were very spacious, (separate living room) and the bathroom was large. The rooms are very well appointed with desk, sofas , 2 large flatscreen tv's, fridge, automatic window screens, and coffee maker. The hotel is very convenient to everything, has a comfortable bar, and a dining room for breakfast and lunch off the lobby. The lobby is large with comfortable seating and all furnishings are clean and in good order. The down side was that our room faced the parking lot for the building next door. But my husband reminded me that we were in a large city and buildings were close in proximity. Our housekeeping ladies were very attentive, and friendly. Whatever we asked for (xtra towels and coffee pods) showed up in minutes, and continued for the balance of our stay. The beds are very comfortable and hard to stay awake in. We have stayed at the Sofitel before, and will stay there again next time...

I booked the room for the weekend on a surprise trip for me and my girlfriend. The hotel and its staff were very courteous and helpful. The rooms were spacious and clean. The only concern was the parking and the tv in the room. The garage itself was very difficult to get in and out of, I had to make extra time in my trip to prepare to leave the garage. The other issue was the tv in the room had suddenly stopped working and could not be repaired. The building engineers attempted to repair it but were unable to get it going. I appreciated the hardwork of the engineer but after an hour I decided to just cut our losses. It definitely changed the mood of the night but it was more of an inconvenience than anything. I appreciated my stay here very much and will definitely stay again in the future.

We were disappointed to find stained sheets on our bed when we checked in. This seems pretty basic - put clean, white, unstained sheets on your beds. Your guests expect nothing less. To make matters worse, this hotel made a point of repeatedly texting me, before, during and after our stay and even though they invite guests to message them back for any needs, the hotel staff never bothered to acknowledge my message about the stained sheets. Instead, we had to go to the front desk and ask them to have clean sheets put on our bed. They did remake our bed but it (1) shouldn't have happened in the first place and (2) would have been nice if the promise of the hotel matched the reality. Yuck. Separately, the wallpaper in our room was peeling and needed some TLC. Bottom line, at this price point and in this location, we expect better from Sofitel.

Hotel located just 2 blocks off MIchigan Ave for great shopping and walking distance to many good restaurants. Staff well trained and friendly. My room was clean, modern with nice amenities such as robe, slippers, Nespresso coffee machine, fridge, lots of hangers and generous closet space and drawers. Would definitely stay here again.

Day 1 - during check in was offered to do a pay upgrade of $600 dollars a night for the presidential suite. This seemed like an odd upgrades to offer, because it was more than the cost per night of our room. Day 2 - requested new bed linens, towels and for someone to come look at one of the bathroom doors that was not latching properly. Engineering came to the room, looked at the door, and said they would be back. Engineering never came back. After 4 hours no one had come to the room with new bed linens and towels. Made a second request for the items and someone eventual came to the room with the items. Day 3 - request made for 2 sets of additional bath towels/rags. Several hours passed and no additional towels/rags. Additional request made again adding a request for linens for the pull out couch. New towels/rags were brother along with an awesome cart with linens. The gentleman did a magnifying job prepped the pullout couch. Gresy personality and conversation. Day 4 - ordered food from CDA. Restaurant is not available for room service, but could pick up and bring back to the room. Picked up order and we were missing an item from the order. Went back to request the item and was provided our item (croissant). We stayed for multiple days and spend several thousand dollars. It was our anniversary and thought this was going to be a good experience. Some of it was, but having to make multiple requests and habit to wait long periods of time to get what we asked for, made this stay other than pleasent. We have stayed in other 5 star hotels in Chicago area and have always had an enjoyable experience. This was not that at all.

I very much enjoyed my stay at the Sofitel Chicago Magnificent Mile. The accommodations and staff were beyond my expectations. I appreciate the ease with which I made the reservations through Luxury Link and look forward to using your service again in the future!
