We stopped Hotel Chais Monnet for a coupe of nights on our three month visit to France. What a lovely experience. The hotel and grounds are just beautiful and all the staff we interacted with were so nice and helpful. Everyone on staff could easily communicate in either French or English. Because of our extended trip we were traveling with our small dog and wanted a nice place that was pet friendly. What a treat this was, doggy bed, treats and accepted everywhere, even in both onsite restaurants. The vast grounds with lots of grassy areas were also very convenient. Their pet fee was on the higher side (40 euro/night) compared to other places we have stayed in comparable facilities. While there's a mix of traditional and modern throughout the hotel, we found that it blended well. While we stayed in the "modern" wing of the hotel, our room was very well appointed and spacious, but cozy, and extremely clean! We enjoyed the very large indoor pool (also has a covered outdoor pool extension too). The pool area was very nice with maybe a dozen loungers to relax on. The adjoining locker rooms were also very nice and clean with complimentary robes, pool towels and flip flops in every locker. There is also a very nice fitness area with a good selection of equipment. We dined in both restaurants and had great meals in both. Again, staff were very friendly and accommodating in both restaurants. Both chefs try to focus on dishes with local ingredients and we were never disappointed. The breakfast buffet has a wide selection of choices and extremely good. Great specialty coffee drinks as well. The hotel location is within walking distance of Cognac central and all the cognac distilleries. Downtown Cognac is worth the walk as well as the very well kept public park.

We spent two wonderful days at this incredible hotel. It used to be the distillerie of Cognac Brandy and is still owned by the company who have converted it into a top class venue for tourists, conferences, weddings etc. We travel with my emotional support dog, Lucy , who was warmly welcomed with a special doggie bed, treats and bowls. We had a lovely ground floor room opening out on to a pretty grassed private garden. the bathroom was large and luxurious. We had a wonderful meal at Le Foudre, their Michelin star restaurant. the two members of staff there were really professional and friendly. We did have a problem about the reservation, which had not been noted, but a very helpful concierge ,Cleman, helped us with that. We were so pleased as one of the reasons for visiting this hotel was to go to that restuarant. I also had an excellent massage one morning. My husband had a lovely swim in the indoor/outdoor pool Lucy was welcome everywhere including the upmarket Le Foudre

This hotel is such a fabulously designed and warm hotel, which blends traditional design with fresh, modern looking rooms. We genuinely could see ourselves hanging out here for weeks. Service was extremely friendly and proactive throughout, and is just such a calm and relaxing place to be. We tried the spa experience, and honestly one of the most relaxing massages we’ve had in a while. The spa team is great! The normal bar was closed when we visited, but the replacement bar on the rooftop/terrace was an equally-nice replacement, and the cognac-based cocktails were delicious. Daily breakfast had a lot of variety, and food in the restaurant was fresh and well-executed. Also, there’s a tonne of really interesting and unique art pieces throughout the hotel. In particular, we liked the metal sculptures that spell out words (I forget what the piece was called). If there’s just two things I wish that were different, it would be: - “Brunch” on Sunday ends *earlier* than breakfast on other days, is not any different than breakfast offering. Either change the service times, or don’t call food that is served before 10am (I forget the exact time) “brunch” 🙂 - It seems like there’s some cognac distilling on site or associated with the house? If so, tours of it would be great!

Nice hotel, a old Cognac house converted to a hotel with a modern touch. Positive things: - Very clean - Well maintained - Friendly staff - Pool, sauna and steam room - Large room and shower - Two bars with an extensive Cognac selection - Parking To improve: - Selection on the breakfast buffet (e.g. every day the same three cheeses —> in a cheese country like France). The food quality of the available things was indeed very good.

Service from the roof top was poor too long to get the drinks then we booked the Distillery restaurant all good but the food came out cold, I felt so embarrassed in front of my friends who came from the uk to visit Cognac purposely. I would not recommend this experience to anyone.
