Loews Coronado is a hidden gem. I was here for a conference about 8 years ago and again last week, and I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. It's a large spread-out hotel that is segmented into buildings 1-5 with 3 floors. In between the buildings are lovely gardens where you can sit and relax. The room I stayed in was large and comfortable overlooking the docks. Everyone was friendly and helpful, from the front desk to dining. There are a lot of activities offered and friends enjoyed the spa. I also loved the gift shop as I purchased clothes I really liked. Many of us mentioned we want to stay here again.

We reserved the ocean view room, mentioned it at check-in, and then were surprised to then get the key to a different room. The front desk said the only person who could help had left for the day. Nobody returned our messages to discuss over the next two days. The hotel seems understaffed and outdated. During dinner, a staff member used the urinal and walked out without washing his hands. Overall, I wish we had selected a different hotel.

Let’s start with the good. Great location and hat tip to the staff who really do work hard to make you feel welcome. They smile, acknowledge you and are always saying Hi. The location is great as are the views although there are a small set of rooms that appear to look out into the pool not the ocean. I did not get one like that and had a great ocean view but would have been disappointed if that was what I had - ymmv General areas were nice clean and reasonably well appointed and there were lots of options to sit and hang out The rooms were well done to keep light out at night which is always a plus for me and I did not get much background noise so the sound proofing seems good The gotchas: The rooms are definitely feeling their age and in need of repair and a spruce up. Nothing huge but noticeable The gym was under equipped and far too small. Maybe not a big deal for the vacation crowd but very disappointing if you want to work out

The hotel rooms need a total renovation. The exterior is beautiful, the staff and location are great but the rooms are really bad. Came for a conference and it was the general consensus that the rooms need to be remodeled, the tub and shower is extremely old, rips in some of the furniture, carpet isn’t clean, stains on the walls in rooms and common areas, The bathrooms are the worst. Would definitely not recommend staying here.

Everything about your stay was perfect. The room spacious, clean and comfortable. I Most rooms provide some sort of view, though the quality of that view varies by floor level and location. Staff were super awesome. I really felt like every staff member (despite being at work), had a positive attitude and customer service orientation. Like a genuine ability to provide genuine service. The property was very accommodating and just such a great stay. The property is rather large, we were in the building farthest away from the lobby. While a long walk, I have since a child really enjoyed being far away from the lobby because I get to walk through the whole property. Overall, it was a great environment and stay!
