About the Hotel
Voted the Best Hotel in South America by the readers of Condé Nast Traveler, Belmond Hotel Monasterio deserves every accolade that comes its way. Built in the 16th century as a monastery on Inca foundations, this cloistered compound is located amid the historic splendor of Cusco, Peru. Most notably, the hotel serves as an ideal base for exploring the mystical ruins of Machu Picchu. Much of the original architecture of Belmond Hotel Monasterio remains intact, paying homage to its original seminarian occupants. In keeping with its intended purpose, the rooms and suites feature a mix of traditional and contemporary furnishings, with a gallery of religious art gracing the walls. Great hotel!
Amazing hotel, really fantastic location, great rooms, warm courtyards... the place is really huge! Fantastic breakfast... rooms are well equipped with pillows, amenities and kitchen gadgets... nepresso capsules, fantastic tea... Only downside is the fact that Place like this should have nice spa center. I can understand that swimming pool is tough to place here, but spa center would take couple of rooms out of equation, but it would give more style to this amazing hotel.

Fabulous stay in the heart of Cusco!
The team was absolutely wonderful and the location is unparalleled. Truly loved every minute of my stay - the breakfast is fabulous, they do a lovely evening art history tour of the property and I felt so welcome by all members of the staff. Thank you!

Oasis in the Middle of Cusco
This was part of a larger trip with National Geographic/Lindblad Expeditions and we were here for two nights toward the end of the trip. This was a beautiful property and we had a fairly large room with a small balcony (but no view). There were two lovely interior courtyards where you could sit and have drinks and breakfast that seemed an oasis in the city. The property was convenient to walking in Cusco town with markets and restaraunts all around. The two on property restaraunts were also excellent.

Beautiful hotel with exceptional service
We stayed 3 nights here . We were welcomed in a very personal way. The hotel is set in an old monastery and it has been restored to perfection keeping the buildings original features but combining it with all the modern features expected of a 5 star hotel. The room is beautiful, large plenty of space for luggage etc… A very decent size safe . The amenities are great and luxury bathrobes and bedding. There’s a good coffee machine and a separate kettle . A lovely fruit bowl and handmade chocolates awaited us. The attention to detail is what makes this place pure luxury and stand out. The food at breakfast and evening were very good . The staff were very friendly and helpful. You really feel looked after here . I really cannot find any negatives. It’s perfectly situated in the centre of Cusco .

Hotel Monasterio in Cusco is truly world-class. Cusco is about 11,000 feet in altitude, but they offer oxygen supplement in rooms. Everything is superb. The manager invited us to a special cocktail party on one night, very gracious.

My daughter and I enjoyed our trip to Peru immensely. We stayed at the Hotel Monasterio in Cusco and found it to be superb. We had a magnificent suite, the staff was perfect and the chef sent us a wonderful surprise birthday cake to our room.

We visited Peru and the entire trip was spectacular. Orient-Express hotels provided exceptional service and world-class accommodations. We stayed at the Miraflores Park Hotel, Hotel Monasterio, and Machu Picchu Sanctuary Lodge. All three hotels had beautiful rooms, outstanding restaurants, and a helpful friendly English-speaking staff. From now on, Orient-Express will be at the top of my list for worldwide travel.
